Default Be Careful On Etsy!

Guys.

Just a warning, if you do well on Etsy, be careful.

in four months i have had 2 accounts.

First account for 2.5 months then second for about 6 weeks.

Both went down due to copyright issues, and these guys at Etsy are pretty strong and harsh when it comes to copyright, basically they arnt ****ing about.

But i say be careful becuase there are rival sellers out there basically rpeorting you over minor things, which will cause them to take down your listings.

in addition to that, if you are successful you will find rival sellers creating a duplicate store based on your store, trust me. One week after doing pretty well on an account i had three rival stores pop up over night selling exact items, titles, desriptions , photos ETC, and etsy would not listen to me.

then i was banned and those stores stayed . annoying.

also, watch out for things you believe there is no copyright, becuase if you do well with that item, some one will go and try and register the copyright.trademark then dob you in, into etsy claiming the right, which they have the right to do but its cheeky as fck, and that is where i have been made a fool.

before people shout at me about copyright, i know. 1 listing was copyright but i risked it, but the other 2 they took down were things people registered trademark recently.

anyway i am going to slightly change my business plan/way i do etsy.

i need to create yet another account.

what are the rules regarding linking new account to an old pp but with a fresh email attatched to that pp?

is that ok? or not? i ask becuase ovviously when some one pays via paypal they will still see my old name/business name on that pp account.

if that makes sense.

so annoyed, fustrateted and damn right depressed about it.

Yeah true.
What are your thoughts regarding linking a new etsy to an old PP, but with a new email on that PP??

it seems its possible and OK but im worried that the name on PP is the same.

what happens if a buyer buys from your new account and notices the same old name!!!

cheers...

This is sad, but apart from being full of lowballing SOB's (I calculated one was making 30 cents an order on a hand-made item that took 15min ea to make), it's also full of very nasty people with nothing better to do than get their "friends" to report you to etsy and get you banned. So don't step on any toes, whatever you do!

So when rival competition is chewing you out... what you mean... they go to the "report a shop" section and then etsy goes and investigates your ship and sees any linkage or anything else.. and if they find something ... your a goner?

Not to mention Et/sy admins run the site like a bunch of junior high schoolers. I have heard rumors (several different places actually) that the admin and their cronies have shops. If you compete with them your odds are not good.

Also, these "crony" shops, just like cronyism in real life, means they get to violate rules with impunity, have other people suspended arbitrarily, and other favors. You don't need to be an actual admin to have crony privileges, either. Many non-etsy employees are totally dialed into their corrupt system and have all sorts of privileges we don't have.

The customer is THE most important thing, and I know for a fact a shop can have 5 stars across the board and still be ganged up on and subsequently shut down. I even know of instances where entire accounts were deleted WITH pending orders where the shop owner then had no way to access them to complete them. No way to see what had and had not been shipped. I highly recommended using an OFF etsy system to track completion of orders. They can and do create nightmares. I have had my fill of Et.sy.

Should not be a problem unless you are using direct checkout.

If you use PP, tracking information is already there and I just make sure addresses match up with the Et.sy purchase order emails. My stores have been shut down with no notice, but everything has been fine for getting orders out without being able to login. But, using DC and having no access to the account, I guess you'd be f*cked. But, I imagine Et.sy would be smart enough to refund the orders and not actually send the money to your bank account. If they aren't, then just let the money deposit to your account and close it so they can't reverse the payment. Let them deal with the customer refunds since it is their fault you have no access.

But, just a theory since I don't use DC and I don't know how Et.sy addresses collection issues. Since they have your SSN, they might send it off to a collections agency.

Great advice Unknown. Direct Checkout I think was the issue there and also PayPal not having actual order details in it in all cases. I don't know it's been a long time and my friend doesn't even want to talk about it anymore. I don't blame him!

When my shops have been shut down you can still access all details of orders than need to be completed/despatched.

Also, you have an option to download all data, which i do, for my accounting and tax records.

In addition to this, if you use DC, and you have funds stored in the account ,they hold onto them for 3 months. After three months they will release them for you to send them to your bank account.

For example here, i have a couple accounts with somewhere between 500-1k in each account stored.

But i have etsy bills , so with any luck they took they money from my account to pay for the etsy bills.

I will go back in, on the date they told me the funds were to be released and and i will deposit what ever is there to my bank.

Hope this helps.
