Default Healthy return percentage for paypal?

Generally speaking what is a healthy percentage of returns for Paypal not to be concerned I.E soft limit/limit you?

Now I'm a good seller meaning I usually have all 5's DSR, ship same day or next typically, and always always try to prevent ANY negatives/netural feedback. Now obviously we can't avoid returns, its the nature of the business we ALL are in. I've seen 1% is a good percentage to stay in, is this correct?

Typically before I offer returns I offer the buyer a % back on their purchase. You can keep bartering if they seem unhappy up to the cost that you actually paid for the merchandise (or even lower if you're avoiding a return)

Most of the time I outright refund them and never ask for a return. Ofc you can only do this with relatively cheap items

I see what you mean but what I meant was say I make 100 transactions and refund a buyer one time, that would mean I have a 1% refund rate...

If that refund rate is to high I believe you can get limited/suspened...
I have read it in the forums before this has caused limitations. Honestly I'm just trying to proactive with my accounts to prevent any type limitation ever occurring, at least whats in my control.

Thank you for the insight elmono.

Basically just go with the defect rate, and keeping accounts in that 2% range so 2 returns per every 100 items will keep you at 2% defect rate assuming no other problems but you get an idea

Ok...

I mean its really just a preventive measure on my growing accounts. Once I add the EIN's I would HATE to have something silly like returns limit my Paypal. 2% is more than doable. It sucks that returns are "defects" when 75% of the times its not my fault its the buyer not reading the description properly. Oh well.
