Default Have any of you been refused your cash after 180 days ?

I was just wondering is it 100% that PayPal will release your cash after 180 days. Is there any law that says they do not have to release it ?

I wrote this thread as many other members may like to know this information.

Default Re: Have any of you been refused your cash after 180 days ?

I have lost a pile of money last year in two of my sellers paypal accounts. Both, the two biggest reasons were being rude and insulting along with legal action threats and another very big factor I believe is no credit or low credit scores.
IF both accounts did not supply SS info, the results may have been different.

Paypal is not a bank. They do not have to follow banking laws. They also have big pockets and exceptional user agreements that protect them in most every way. For example, in the USA, you have to sue them and have proceedings in the state they are Incorporated in. Another aspect is that if you can not prove you are who you say you are, how do they know they are giving the funds to the appropriate party? If they feel you are putting them at risk, keeping your money is a great deterrent for you to do this again.
Also, if you tick off ebay after your account becomes "unregistered" ebay can auto cancel all previous sales and drain your paypal account and all funding tied to it via user agreements. Great way to keep someone they don't want at bay....

A non active member here JSR, I know very well, has shed tears and has nightmares over this. Lots every dollar he had in the bank...

Dear Xxxxx Xxxxxxx,

After reviewing your PayPal account, we’ve determined there to be excessive
risk involved in doing business with you and we’d like to begin parting
ways in a manner that is least disruptive to your business.

If there is any money in your account balance, it will be held for 180 days
(from the date of the last payment you received) to cover any disputes that
might be opened by your buyers.

After 180 days, we may ask you to provide us with a proof of identity and a
proof of address before you can withdraw any remaining balance.

If there are outstanding buyer complaints open against you, you can refund
your customers via the Resolution Centre in your PayPal account.

We reserve the right to close any account reported to be involved in
possible high-risk behaviour. In the event of a dispute, we’ll try to
recover the money from you by debiting your PayPal balance first and, if
there are insufficient funds in your PayPal balance, we reserve the right
to collect your debt to PayPal by any other legal means.

We appreciate your patience and understanding regarding this matter and
regret any inconvenience it may cause you.

Yours sincerely,

Serge

Paypal has refused to release funds for a number of sellers.

Many were from Asia.

Their funds were never released.

No action of theirs changed paypal's decision either.

I remember about £400 getting stuck about 4 years ago, in the scheme of things, it's not a big deal but still money that could be of been spent on RedBull or beer......

Shame on you PayPal!

I'm really disgusted with PayPal and lately. They mine as well just start opening up their own stores. Well eBay. When I made a new Paypal account I wasn't asked for my SS# either this was recently. I wanted to open up a store on there but it says my account isn't verified. I linked my bank account there saying its not linked??

They use to be solid back in 2007-2011 then I was out of the game for awhile. There pretty sketchy.

Like a poster above said they're not a bank, they act as an escrow service really between two parties and once the transactions are complete given both parties have got their product and money why the heck do they feel the need to snoop around. I'm guessing they've been sued a lot.

Remember MF Global in 2011? And what about Northern Rock 2007 bank in the UK? What about Lehman brothers? What about the 10% haircut which the central bank of Cyprus did on accounts over 100000 EUR deposits?

Bank or NO bank, do not trust ANY western DEBTOR nation with YOUR money, they are all the same! Now, if this happened in developing countries this is less likely to happen. However saying that all banks are the same they are all compulsive gamblers, they sick people who are running these firms and they use your MONEY and earned TIME to play around with.

I would also like to know what problems I may get after the 180 days -

My UK PP is limited and I just had my ID rejected.

after 180 days we may ask you to provide us with a proof of identity and a proof of address before you can withdraw any remaining balance

My pp acc has a confirmed bank and a credit card but Will I need to provide ID to get my money in 180 days?!

Thanks

It is very possible who knows with PayPal you are just best to wait it out and see, as this is a question we cant answer.

Definitive answer not known as of this date.

6 months seems a long time to wait.

But I should think they must have to give it back eventually, there must be laws against them taking my money!

The way some of these platforms like PP are changing....it can be dangerous to assume that you are safe.

Knock on wood - no issues for me after 180 days yet

I would hope that bad ID or no, that they would have to give you your money back after their waiting period.

Otherwise they are keeping what is not theirs and they after all have to stick to the rules.
