Activity: 0% Longevity: 54% | | Just realised why 2 Accoounts limited
I just realized that 2 pp accs I had limited were selling an item I had bought in bulk and then sold in a smaller quantity with a reprinted label from the manufacturer.
I suppose it was wrong of me to reprint the manufacturers label in a smaller size and attach this to the items and I wont do this again!
Can anyone tell me precisely why this is not allowed?
And also can I legally buy something in bulk and then resell it on ebay in smaller quantities?
Thanks

But reprinting a manufacturers label and trade mark to fit your smaller packaging is illegal ?
So I need to sell my repackaged item in a plain packet and perhaps explain its origins and I wont get reported and my PP accounts limited ?
(shame really as its a good earner and people do like to see a brand name label)
thanks

they just said -
We recently noticed an issue with your account. For information on what you can and can't do while your account is limited, go to the Resolution Centre.
Why is my account access limited?
Your account access has been limited for the following reason(s):
10 Dec 2014: For reasons relating to the safe use of the PayPal Service we need some more information about you and your account to help confirm your identity.
(Your case ID for this reason is*PP-00*-xxx-xxx-xxx.)*
What can't I do while my account is limited?
• send money
• withdraw money from your account
• receive or request money
• close your account
• add money to your account
• remove a card
• remove a bank account
And when I phoned they could not say why it was limited and simply did not want to do business with me any more!
It took me a few days to realise I must have been reported by the manufacturer or a competitor as it happened on both the accounts I have selling this repackaged item.

You've been hit with the same limitation that dozens of other UK members have had.
When did you make the accounts and had you lifted the receiving limits?

You also might want to edit out the case ID. Leaving it place just lets Paypal know they made the right decision to close your stealth accounts. |

Limited on the two accounts selling primarily this repackaged item and when I call they ask me questions about this item I am selling and are not after ID and just want to terminate my accounts.
I am pretty certain why they limited my accounts!
Just wish I had caught on sooner.

Oops forgot about the ID!
And its daft little mistakes like this that get my accounts closed.
Thanks to the moderator for removing them.

Just wish I had caught on sooner. | That's not the reason but if you want to believe it is then don't let me stop you.
The reason your accounts were shut down is because they "need some more information about you and your account to help confirm your identity".

@steplav, were you using the same pp to buy from your manufacturer and sell to customers i.e. accept payment?

Hi, I appreciate your reply and that you will have more experience of this than me but then why would PP specifically ask me questions about this item I am selling and then not even wait to ask for ID before informing me they they no longer wished to do business with me?
I think the limitation notice is a standard one and it does mention a request for further info about me, but I dont think that is important.
When I have called B4 and it was about ID they asked no questions about what I was selling or where I got it from, they just wanted me to send ID.
I have to say the Irish PP guy was v smooth and pleasant, so it took a few days to register what the questions about the items I selling meant.
I could be wrong, but I dont think so.

No, I did not buy and sell from the same account.
I do remember when I thought about getting the labels printed up thinking, "I bet these guys have someone checking google to see if anyone is ripping them off."
and do a google search and its easy to see what I'm selling as its a pretty niche product with a strong brand name.
Hopefully they wont mind if I sell it as their brand without a reprint label and showing a picture of the large barrel it comes in !

Are you selling risky items? I highly doubt it was just the label thing that brought down your account...

Its nothing risky, but it is a strong brand name selling a high quality, fairly expensive product to a pretty niche market.
All you have to do is google the product the name and my item comes up near the top on ebay. (at the very top in google shopping)
They would probably assume it is ⊗⊗⊗⊗ as I am selling it in a volume and packaging that they dont supply and they label is a bit of one of theirs but professionally reprinted on sticky labels, so to them the whole thing would look like a ⊗⊗⊗⊗. And its much cheaper than what they usually charge as I got a whole barrel for cheap.
I would do the same if I were them so I cant complain.
Bit gutted though as I was selling 100 a month and making 50% profit even after fees and postage!

Brand name....could be that someone manually looked at your account - saw the brand name sales - and could have gutted you based on that.

DOZENS of UK accounts if not hundreds from forum members have been limited recently. Pretty much the same exact thing.
IF the manufacturer or Trademark holder had an issue with you it would be through ebay, not paypal. Ebay would have issued a VERO warning or closed the account, NOT paypal. A VERO rights holder would have almost no reason to contact paypal unless a court order was issued to obtain depth of damages in a law suit.

I accept your opinions but I still think its very possible.
I know if owned a big brand name like that I would be checking for rip offs.
And a quick email or call to PP would be the easy route to stopping a small time incursion. These big companies will deal with things like this all the time and taking one ebay seller to court is not going to be efficient. I know what I would do if I were them.
My account was not limited to check ID or they would have asked me for some when I spoke to them, surely.
Maybe it was just PP seeing me sell lots of one brand name item packaged different from usual.
