Default Paypal Account Removed - Products Now Fail Acceptable Use Policy

We were notified on the 5th January 2015 that a section of our products (Speed Camera Detectors) now contravene PayPal's Acceptable Use Policy. Our devices are fully legal within the UK within which we sell and are sold more as a safety device. We have been retailing these products since 1979 and working with Paypal since 2012, so find it unbelievable that they can just flex their muscles and tell us what to sell.

The explanations were very sketchy at best ranging from "PayPal just decided they didn't want to sell them anymore" to "they can facilitate illegal activity" which is incorrect. Based on the facilitate illegal activity they will have to remove a lot of companies and products.

has any other companies had the same issues with PayPal recently? Would love to hear if you have.

Thanks

Welcome to the forums - rough to hear - PP can be finicky like this. Likely some agent manually reviewed your account and enforced this

Not specifically to speed cameras, however, our non stealth account was shut down under their ridiculous "Acceptable use Policy" for providing licenses (on card, as provided by the manufacturers) of software. Despite the fact we are partners with many of the major software manufacturers, and a certified Microsoft Reseller. But paypal refused to reinstate.

lets be truthful here mate, you were selling volume license software from Microsoft so it was only a matter of time before you got busted. The Kapersky license cards you were selling were most likely not the reason your account got suspended.
