Default user called "buy"

There's a user called "buy". Just that. No info if they're buy.com, but their account is old since 2002. I wonder if they bought that username like with domain names. Well, they have 742683 items for sale.

There is no disguise. Everybody on eBay knows they are buy.com
They are the one of the first "Big Box" retailers to dump their catalog on eBay for free.
They are discussed almost everyday in the eBay forums.
They post their items for free and have a discounted Final Value Fee.

If they did not receive the discounts that they do then they would go out of business.
On a average, lets use round numbers here.....
If they sell 1 million dollars a month then the fees they should be paying on there insertion and FVF's of the items sold and unsold range between 2-3 million dollars.
But they get HEAVY discounts so they make money.

eBay is all about being fair to the everyday Joe these days.

And by the way....
Did you know that Buy.com does not stock merchandise.
You order from Buy.com and then Buy.com orders the item from their supplier and has it shipped direct to you.
So they do not even know if a item they are selling on eBay is in stock at their suppliers location.
Look at their NEG and Neutral feedbacks... What a joke.

To be fair, it's kind of an average amount of negs in proportion with the amount of positives they've got.

Stunning logo right there I must say.

Hmm well I checked their early feedback

eBay Feedback Profile for buy

Apparently they really did make that name buy back in 2002 and they did use it, but they did not use it that much until December 2007 when eBay made them a diamond powerseller.

Their older feedback had a high percentage of negs like 1 out of 25 transactions was a neg. They did respond to it well by saying things like they issued a customer a credit before the item even arrived and how they paid buyer's own shipping to return the item. Their replies to the negs does sound like they're a good seller despite the negs.

As for the person who suggested to neg bomb them, well you'd have to spend 8 hours a day to even make a dent in their feedback rating. I'm sure if there was that much effort eBay might get the police involved, or just delete the negatives. I have heard that eBay adjusts DSRs artificially upward for high level powersellers, and I wouldn't be surprised if eBay already ⊗⊗⊗⊗d buy.com's DSRs and eBay may even be adjusting their negatives.

Though, the numbers on their feedback profile when doing my own calculations do go to 99.6% based on the displayed numbers.

As for their DSR, I am certain their DSR is innacurate. At least for "Shipping and handling charges" because they always from what I can see, give free shipping, and yet it's 4.8. Of course whenever someone gives you a neg or neutral, it's most likely they'll give you all 1s for all the DSR ratings.

I also thought it odd that even in 2002, they could get the rare name "buy". So I looked at their ID history:

http://contact.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI...&requested=buy

User ID Effective Date End Date
buy Dec-21-07 Present
buytechnology Feb-12-02 Dec-21-07

Well clearly they USURPED the name "buy" the same month they became a diamond powerseller. I wonder what innocent victim eBay suspended and later renamed so buy.com could get that name?
