TD is becoming more challenging especially on the personal side. Business side has its own issues as well.

If it shows "completed" on Paypal's side when doing a transfer, is it safe to assume it went through?

No that just means it was sent to the Bank, and from there the Bank has the funds and Banks that won't accept mismatched funds will sometimes freeze the account until you call in, or they will just send the funds back to PayPal and that will take another 2-3 business days

Learn this quickly.

Never put assume and paypal and a funds transfer in the same sentence.

Hurts too much if anything gets reversed.

I lost about $500 on deposits TD returned to a closed PP account. I had to get the money out because I knew the account was going to be limited and found out they returned the deposits for mismatched names after I had been using them for over a year. I was given no explanation other than they were not allowing mismatched names.

Td is alright, I'd suggest trying a small credit union in your town or city they usually will help you out more with things and sometimes have better rates.

Why do you guys think opening up more than 5 bank accounts at one bank is bad?

Also do you mean 5 at any one local bank or 5 at any one bank branch???

Not true we are not looking for good rates here..LOL we are looking for a bank or financial institution that will accept ACH transfers in a mismatched name.

As a general rule a "small" local bank or financial institution will almost always NOT accept a transfer in a mismatched name as every transfer can be very closely looked at because there is a very small amount per day as compared to a larger bank such as BoA, Chase, Key, TD, and PNC (I know from a personal bank manager friend at BoA). Larger banks have just too many transactions per day to care unless they stand out (over 3k USD is the magic number) and or there is a reason to take notice which usually means a pattern of unusual activity or court order.

Big CJ your way of thinking is a product of post 911 government taking away your banking freedoms. Don't take offense as it's worked on many millions besides you.

Every government would want you to believe you are a guilty money launderer until proven innocent.

Now..if you think outside the box.... if you go to one bank branch you could in fact open actually more than 5 accounts.

For example:

Personal checking
(some banks such as Key Bank allow you to open and unlimited amount as long has they have more than a zero balance, you can do this online)

Personal savings

DBA checking

LLC checking
(how many LLC's do you want to create?)

Getting the picture?

A business account such as an LLC is almost never questioned about transfers in and out and/or cash deposits. The reason being is that it is assumed that a 'business" will and needs to make these transactions, so attention is not paid to them.

On the other hand a PERSONAL account with many ACH transfers other than W-2 or 1099 income (for the US, apply whatever wage income is in your country) will eventually be looked at as this is considered "unusual activity".

With that being said to clarify your statement you would be more correct if you stated that "opening more that 5 PERSONAL accounts" in any one bank would be considered "unusual activity" the term Money Laundering is not used initially.

So, the safer yet more time consuming thing to is open bank accounts in the name of an LLC. You can still create your stealth accounts in a personal name and have your LLC account attached to PP. There are many times when a person will make an ACH transfer to a company's bank account to pay for goods or services, for example your monthly bills. This is considered by the banks as normal business and will not be questioned, and you still get the benifit of mismatched names without the scrutiny.

I have exactly one personal checking account.
Everything else is businesses. I don't have bank issues other than TD with some odd things they do from time to time.
