Default PayPal limited Permanently - after 180 days does PP really send you a check? YES.

my paypal account got limited and i don't know how to lift this limitation, at the end of the message when i log onto paypal it gives me the case id number and when i try and search for that case id it says no such case id exists. so how am i supposed to find out what paypal wants me to do to lift this limit? i replaced the case id number with ****** in this forum message for privacy reasons. i copied and pasted it below.

the only reason i think i could have been limited is because i changed all the email addresses on the account recently and turned it into a business account. it has been several days and i can't search this case id. what am i doing wrong?

you can't lift it. When it says your account is closed, it means that you've been banned from eBay. I had this happen to me 2 weeks ago. What I did was refund all of my ebay transactions and emailed my buyers to pay me on a different paypal account I had. That way Paypal was only holding maybe $50 for 6 months instead of $900 for 6 months, no interest for them.

you are correct. i found out by emailing them.

ebay banned me and then later paypal banned me. both times for the same reason and because of ebay. they were linked together. if they were not linked would i have been ok?

i was selling some stuff i had bought in a store. just 3 copies of a game i decided i didn't like. and they said i was selling unauthorized copies.

what a giant load of crap. this kind of stuff makes you wanna screw ebay and never pay any fees ever. what a joke

after i was banned from ebay i removed the link but it didnt matter it seems. the reason they were linked in the first place is this was my first time dealing with ebay and paypal and i had no knowledge of the pittfalls of it

if i never linked it to ebay would the paypal account have been left alone?

Default Paypal permanently Limited!!

Hey guys, first time poster and this hit me like a brick! I have made new ebay accounts without hassle but wasnt expecting this to happen.

My paypal account was over 2 years old with over 9-10,000 successful transactions. Today at 3am EST it got permanently limited.

This is what it says

We recently reviewed your account, and we need more information about your business to allow us to provide uninterrupted service. Until we can collect this information, your access to sensitive account features will be limited. We would like to restore your access as soon as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience.
Your account has been limited for more than 180 days. It will continue to be limited but you now have the ability to withdraw funds.
Why is my account access limited?

Your account access has been limited for the following reason(s):

# Jul. 17, 2007: In accordance with PayPal's User Agreement and Acceptable Use Policy, we have closed your account. Your funds may be held for 180 days from the date of your last transaction. After 180 days, you will be able to access your funds by requesting an online bank transfer or, if applicable, a check from PayPal. Please update your address or bank information as we cannot be held responsible for checks issued to an incorrect address. We do ask that you please remove reference(s) to PayPal from your site.

First it says limited then closed. it did let me withdraw whatever funds I had.

What can be done?

The emails said counterfeit products like handbags and what not. I dont sell handbags!

Is there an alternative to Paypal? im thinking of just going in another direction. also will sales drop too?

Thanks in advance!

Which one really works well with ebay though? Something thats intergrated. For instance, once an auction ends, I want the person to get an email with payment instructions or direct link.

I use Alertpay for my adult auctions as they allow for that where as paypal seems to be bible thumpers and does not. Hey Porn is still legal isn't it. Anyway, Merchant accounts work fine - set the link/page up on your website and allow the customers to go there to pay. You can also use a 3rd party to gather the info for you (auction checkout is one), the are intergrated into your ebay account so that the customers can buy alot and pay once. BUT this can only be used with 1 ebay account at a time. Unless you want to pay additional fees for other accounts. (another story)......

You can also use 3rd party checkout services (auctiva is free) and they send out end of auction emails. Just put the information of how you want them to pay in the email and you could include links as well.

Default SOS -- Problem like never experience before!!

Hey guys, this may sound weird but please, all i ask for is practical answers. I am depressed!

So my buddy had been suspended from paypal, and I from ebay some months back.

Then we decide to team up- He opens an ebay sellers account to sell his items, while I open a paypal account to receive the payments.

Everything goes on fine for 4 months -- 80+ positive feedbacks, No negatives, all items promptly shipped, all reciepts confirmed. All is okay till I do the stupid - transfered $3800 from paypal at once (o.k, i know that was dumb, but let's move on).

So both ebay & paypal accounts are linked. My paypal account is limited, his ebay account is limited. Paypal says to fax the usual documentations to lift the limit and ebay says to resolve paypal issue to have ebay limitation lifted.

Question 1: Was it really against ebay & paypal's policy to have had my buddy sell with his ebay account and receive payment with my paypal account?

Question 2: I know faxing those documents is a waste of time so we've decided to wait the 180 days. But is there any real chance that we would get our money back after 180 days?.

Please help!

I have heard of some people not getting there money back. But whatever you do fight for your money, don't leave it sitting in there. You may not never see it again. If you put up a good fight they will release your money..

speaking of that Modee did you ever fix your Paypal account?

Thanks C.H, but before I even get to start fighting back, do you think the ebay account being in my friend's name and paypal account in my name has already condemed us?

And hey Modee, the email you got looks exactly like the one i received...... Just that my own case goes a little further.

Is your info on paypal "your real info" if so then you will get your money back. If the address is valid they will send you a check. My suggestion to get ahead of the game a bit though, is start gathering the information in your area for your attorney general and the Better Business Office. Get letters ready to go to them on day 181 with a copy of the emails and Paypals policy about the 180 days.
File an action in court for the money, paypal will most likely when they recieve the papers is file for a change in venue due to their policy. This will at least get their attention that you want your money.

Keep your proof that you shiped the items and anything relating to the money.

Yes, all the info is real. But I'd be moving in late September and does this mean:
1) I'd have to contact the attorney general and the Better Business Office in my new location?

2) I can't receive the paypal check at my new location? Is there no possiblility of withdrawling my money into my bank account when paypal unfreezes it?

I had the last laugh though - when they limited that PP account I pulled out six figures from my other PP account that I was using for savings. I emailed them, and told them that this was because of the limitation on the other account. I will never store large sums of cash in PP again.

Both accounts were linked and limited, but the limitation on the savings account was quickly lifted when I threatened legal action. But even that one day limitation was enough to scare me off from PP for good - what right do they have to tell me what I can do with MY money?

Welcome to Paypal world.. See you don't have to sell counterfeits to get limited twice. I hope you learned a good lesson here Modee because you was bashing me for awhile because of how I said I hate Paypal and they always limit accounts..
WOW you actually leave that much in there. I would never do that

Hey Modee , Try ING Direct Bank Online bank. They have a 4.5 rate, or you can always risk HYIP or Autosurfs

You can do it in either area, if you are moving to a different state you might need to speak with the AG in the state where you were first. As far as if they mail the check, you can go into your paypal account I think and modify the address, i am not sure as I have never had a limited account. You can also file a change of address or forwarding address form with the USPS Online.

Default Damn! just got limited...what next?

Okay I'm going through my growing pains here. My EB acount has now passed the 30 day mark and I get an email starting out

Dear (Name being used)

As part of our security measures, we regularly screen account activity.
During a recent screening of your PayPal and eBay accounts, we observed
activity that is unusual or potentially high risk. For this reason, we have
limited access to your account(s) until additional security measures can be
completed.

I had like $50 in it. Largest payment received was about $50, largest sent was like $20 with a total of 8-10 transactions. WTF is so high risk about that?

It ends with:

Please note that any seller fees due to eBay will immediately become due
and payable. eBay will charge any amounts you have not previously disputed
to the billing method currently on file.

I just checked the EB account and for the time being it looks okay and they have not collected the seller fees that it said are due immeadiately. I know they are connected, but why is PP telling me my EB fees are due immeadiately when they aren't due til the end of the month? Won't EB just go to collect from PP and when they can't access it because it is limited take the payment from the backup method of the GC on file?

So then I logged into PP and was greeted with the following:

Recent account activity has made it necessary for us to collect additional verification information.

They list 4 steps:
Add and confirm a bank account
Confirm Location
Provide Proof Of Shipping
Fax or upload documentation

Do they want all 4 and if so why the confirm shipping? Shipping to where, what item? I didn't get a notice of anyone claiming they didn't receive their items...there was no dispute lodged at PP. I just send an item out yesterday that I used delivery confirmation on, would that suffuce for that? I might be able to pull of the rest if the bank account wouldn't have to match the address...I have heard that they check the routing number and account number, not names.

What do I do now to get paid for the items I have selling? It says I can still receive payments, but why would I want to put more $ into a PP account that I can't access?
Account is not in my name, so I can't just have them send me a check. Could I just email the winner and instruct them to send a check to a different address and made payable to a name different than the one registered with ebay?

Also, I probably only do (well did before my ban) about $500 in gross EB sales a month so it isn't feasible for me to go to the expense of setting up a Merchant account just yet.

Is Google Checkout or Bidpay really a viable alternative and how difficult are they to set up?
Since EB does not let you use Google CO do you just say VISA/MC accepted and then invoice them through Google CO?

I really need help here folks. It isn't a lot of money, but my real business is slow and the few hundred bucks a month really helps to pay the bills.

I just went back to the PP resolution center...what a bunch of crap! I need to provide proof of delivery for all sales? Who does that for something that was $6 or $7 and shipped regular mail? You can't even do that unless it is over-sized or priority. By the time you add that cost onto all of the other fees, you have nothing left! Looks like I am out the balance in the account or can I get it in 180 days?

This sucks

With any Paypal account, once you start receiving funds in and out of the account, Paypal will limit the account for more information. It happens to everyone. Just give them what they ask for, they'll lift the account and go from there.

Bidpay is a good option for eBay.
