Default Learning ebay auction, Reserve price question

I am listing on auction for the first time. Normally, I would sell this items from £15 to £35 on buyit now listing but I set my auction to start from £0.99 with no reserve price, although I edge by setting a postage that exceeded £5 on a 3 day listing.

If the auction backfires such as only 1 person bidded and placede a bid of just £2 on item that was suppose to go for £35. Is it possible to:

1. Extend my auction
2. Set a reserve price while the auction has received a bid
3. Cancel the auction before it ends (Is there any penalty for doing this?)

or possibly, unleash one of my stealth account to also bid?

Once a bid is placed, you can not do much other than end a listing if there is at least 12 hours left.

Take the plung and test a sale. If your items are popular and in demand, it will do well on auctions. If they are items that dont have multiple people wanting at all times, then BIN is a better option.

Ending time is important. Vast majority of bids are within the last hour of an auction. So you want to pick a time that people are online.

My single items that are non "comodity" and I only have a few of, I always have the ending times on Sunday NIGHT around 8:30-10PM, Monday and Thursday same PM time.
Items that sell every single day and I have many of, I have ending times week days 10am, 12 noon-3pm while people are online at work and then 7pm-midnight every day EXCEPT Friday and Saturday evenings because people tend to be out and about and not online.

Shrill bidding is never a good idea. Great way to get accounts linked and/or banned.

One thing is the first time you list something on auction is the hardest. Your item has to get seen, watched and then bid on before it starts trending. Once you have a successful auction, always use the relist option that way that sold/trending item gets greater visibility and everyone who was bidding/watching gets notified it has been relisted. I can usually gets bids within an hour or less on relisted items. A fresh listing might take a day or more on the same identical item on the same account.

So you mean I could end this listing if I have 12 hours left, even though it has received a bid?

Thanks

Yes BUT almost all significant bids are in the last hour.

Yes taerese but remember 12 hours out you don't really know if you could have gone on to have a rush of bidders in the last couple of hours, so if you end it early you will never know if it would have gone on to do really well. As yankee said you need to take a chance with your first item to see how it does. One thing is 100% definate never place bids on it youself, shill bidding has caused huge problems for people who chosen to go down that route over the years and ebay has tightened up its procures recently, not woth the risks to your accounts.
