Exclamation Using an old "Standby" Amazon account on new IP

Hey guys,

My GF created an Amazon sellers account a while back (probably about 8--11 months ago?) and sold about a half-dozen items, then put her account on Vacation mode. She got one 5 star feedback, and the account has been dormant since.

I know people have said there are no stealth Amazon accounts for sale here for reasons of the issues with transferring info, so I was wondering if it would be safe to start using her old account with new info (new IP, new computer, new inventory, etc etc).

Any input from the resident experts would be appreciated.

Nobody can say with certainty, but all of those changes at one time are going to send up some red flags.

Is there any way you could at least use the same computer? Does she still have it?

IP's CAN change, so that alone should not create an issue. However, having both the IP AND a new computer could do it.

amazon doesnt seem to have the IP restrictions that eBay has. just don't go about changing the account info and you should be good.

You will be fine, however before listing lots of stuff, just go slow on sales

She still has the computer. I COULD use it, if I needed to, however, she hasn't used/logged into her Amazon account (buyer OR seller) for over 6 months.

She created the account for the first time when she started selling. She had never before used Amazon.

I'd like to just convert this old account into my new main, and I could use her PC if necessary, but I really would prefer not to.

I thought Amazon couldn't track MAC addresses?

How long before I can change the account info? I would like to turn this into my new main, so obviously I need to add a new bank account etc.

Will I be good to add new info after my first velocity review?

Don't list very many items or don't go over 750 per month in sales?

Is it ok to list dozens of small 5-10 dollar items, so long as I don't surpass the 750 velocity limit? Or should I refrain from listing many items at all.

Does the account age matter, or is it consistent usage that counts?

in all honesty theres no point in changing the info other than the bank account and maybe even that may not be necessary in your situation. If you get banned its not like the info you that originally on the account wouldn't be banned also.

all you need to do is add your tax info to the account so she's not liable for taxes should you reach the 200/20k mark.

I'm mostly concerned with calling Seller Support. I call at least once a week. And if I decide at some point to move on, I'm not going to want her getting my money, so obviously I need to change the bank account.

If you decide to 'move on' GhostofAmazon!, so this what this thread really comes down to! You want to use your girlfriends old account that obviously has some feedback on it and no suspension, but you don't want any chance of her having any kind of access to it in case you decide you want 'move on' from her at any point in the future!

Seriously, I don't know how you can have the gall to post this in a forum like this that obviously has female users as well as MCP's like you!

Thus those in the know always say to never use a friend's info.

MCPs are not excluded either.

The account should be fine. You will have to confirm some security details because Amazon's system will detect that it's a new device that is not recognised. Make sure you have these handy. From what I remember it was to confirm the post code of the account

Tough to say how long - best not to change other than new bank account.

After first velocity review, also tough to estimate.

Thanks for the helpful info guys!

As for the female members who are upset as to my personal choices.....this is a forum about business, specifically, making accounts that Amazon and eBay cannot trace back to the original owners. I have her permission to use the account. She stopped selling because it doesn't interest her.

No one, and I mean no one here is a boyscout (or girlscout, if that offends you), so I'm not here for your moral judgement. I asked a question regarding switching account details. The reasoning is really irrelevant. Leave your feelings at the door. This is business, and if you get in a tizzy over details, you're not cut out for business at all.

Hi,

There is nothing wrong in using another account , if it serves the purpose.

She gave the account to you , so you are clear , it is legit acct,

do not change account that soon,

if you want to use new Pc that is fine , using new pc is good, but do some surfing with the account on that new pc , and if you able to buy low value item it will be good as well . after about 2/3 weeks then you can start selling .

but only sell 2 Types of products, low value products,
when you list item do not put more than 25 quantities on each products as anything higher than that will push you to amber, ( you don't want that )

you make about 25 sales in a month on each product and your feedbacks are good.

make sure all sold items are shipped on the sameday and add tracking if you can.
after the 1st or 2 Payment you can add bank account , but do not remove the 1st account that your GF have there.

you make your new account as the receiving account.

the 1st few sales keep your Gf sweet so she can give the funds to you when they transfer to her acct.

after few months you are Good to go.

understand that sometimes you go through pain to get a good result.

just over look the 1st / 2nd payment as losses , but once you start selling you rip all the benefits.

she's good to help you out with the acct , just play it good with her .

building a block with good foundation is what you have now. That account is very good. because it is 6+ months with know usage . that is the issues .

NOTE: - The Old PC after 1 week delete the entire details from the old pc if that pc is still used online. every time it goes online amazon knows as they have their links on the pc, clear all history and cookies , .temp files. ETC

( just imaging Sue is using a new pc now and the old Pc is still going online with all the details correct , and that user is still on that PC but different online IP ) .

it sync there DB.

The DB Roll back and roll forward , nothing ever get lost .

Good Luck

You have the set decision - roll with it and report back with your experience

You mean everytime she goes online, even without ever visiting or logging into Amazon, they can track her PC? Are you sure? Can anyone verify?

Thats absolute rubbish, amazon can only see when you are logged. Then they are only looking at cookies etc. Anything else would be illegal.

Amazon can only see you online when you are on their website.

They do not know every time you turn on your PC...
