Default Name mismatch question

On my ebay/paypal combo that I sell regularly on, I am using a specific bank. I got a letter from them today that says in a nutshell, I have to stop withdrawing money from a business account. My paypal is a business account that I have been using. My question is, can I just change my business name to match my real name, even though my real account was permanently limited?

As long as your real name isn't super unique then in theory this could work, but there's also the possibility of it failing down the line.

You can technically put the Paypal business name as anything, so yes you could use your real name as the "business name" and your bank would then see deposits from your "business name". But I would imagine if for whatever reason you had to call Paypal or a Paypal rep looked into your account, they would wonder why the name of your business is some guy's name and I don't think that would end well.

If you do decide to do this, you may have to remove the bank and re-add it. At the withdrawal screen, check to see what Paypal says the name on the bank account is. I believe it would still say your old business name, which is why you may need to remove & re-add it.

Though a better option would be to open or convert your current bank account to a business bank account if that bank offers it. I'm sure they would be fine with the deposits then, without having to do this workaround. And if this is one of your main accounts, it's best not to risk it.

So is that what I should I do for now? Change my business name and then delete and re-add my bank account? Can I do that?

Ive seen people change their business name and paypal still send the money to the bank with the old business name, perhaps a glitch idk

But I would advice just using a bank that allows mismatch names if business is not an option

chase, pnc, boa
