Default Wholesale Price?

I currently sell formal clothing but want to move away from this, as our return rate is currently at 40% like all other competitor. I sell a few small appliances such as black and decker etc and search endlessly to find distributors. Eventually I found only two. However, their prices and retail price is just about $5 off. I really don't know how anyone makes a profit. I am not looking to earn as much as I earned from dresses but $3 would be good enough for me. When I do the calculation I would be running at a lost.

Any suggestion on where to find non china appliances distributors?

You definately don't want to be buying electrical anything from China, that could create nightmares for you and anyone who bought those goods from you.

Electronics are an even worse niche then clothing.

Things break in transit, people scam you even more and the prices drop the same month most things come out (Except apple whos prices are outrageous)

The profit is also very low and suffering quality will cost you in the long run.

No one is going to give away suppliers I am afraid.

Research and more research is key though

STAY AWAY FROM ELECTRICAL GOODS!!

The quality control is garbage and trust me it's not worth damaging your name for a little bit of $$$$. Electronic devices is a pain to sell and the rate of returns of damage goods can be really high. The clothing game can be profitable if you market your products correctly and start developing a brand around your products. When you buy and resell products your business model is the same as the 90% of people out there, that is why your profit margin is low and the price war game is something you don't want to be in.

Be creative and think outside the box........

Electronics have notoriously low profit margins. When people think of selling on eBay, most of them think they need to find that secret source of $150 iPhones. Only the source does not exist. Apple does not have fire sales and closeouts of their products.

It really IS as simple as finding a product source, looking at your cost and then looking at eBay to see how many of them are selling and at what price. In most cases, you won't be moving forward, as the price available to a new seller buying in limited quantities is most likely higher than the top eBay sellers are charging now.

The secret is finding niches - where there are enough sales to justify investing your money but not 25 other people already trying to sell the item.

It takes time. Terapeak is a good way to find eBay sales data. Then you need to be CONSTANTLY on the lookout for wholesalers. But don't think that you are going to find them on the first page of Google! Real wholesalers with prices that will allow you to be competitive on eBay are few and far between, and they are NOT well-known. But the GOOD NEWS is that you CAN find them with hard work and research.

I would stay away from the $20 lists that sound too good to be true. I have never seen one that is worth the $20.

lots of good advice above. Just to keep hope out there I started in a very mature market with very competitive pricing. when i started out i couldn't see how some one could sell the same thing for so much less. What was like a mystery slowly became my company secrets and now i can match any other competitor out there. I do not try to encourage the price war and i usually match price and do not beat price.

It took me about a year of research and work to get there. In the end it was worth it. for those familiar electronics is very competitive and that's where i'm at.

Thanks for the advice guys. I understand the risks i.e damage, returns etc. but believe me, it cannot be as bad as clothing.
Over the past month I sold about 30 p/c of kitchen appliances and only had one damaged and no return. I sold about 10 dresses and had 6 return. The dress is too small because they refuse to check the size chart.

I think I am going to give it a break for now. I will focus on summer wear and prepare for back to school items and then it will be winter goodies.

Find your nice but no one U.S. going to tell you there's. Just remember that is easier then you thing but harder then your willing to work. Don't look for the quick money just the slow and steady ride. There's a need for just about anything. If your in the desert I can tell you that you need a good water pouch and a camel massager to him happy. Create a market and there will be one.
