You can have as many EIN's as you like, but only ONE can be in your name. And that one will verify as YOUR NAME with the EIN.
EIN's for corporations or LLC's work much better. They will verify the BUSINESS NAME against the EIN.
You might STILL be able to use the one you got for the sole proprietorship by opening a new account using your real name at a different address and in a different city. That assumes your name is not terribly uncommon. This will work a lot better for Richard Johnson than for Anwi Mephistopoulos.
