Paypal nearing $1000, paypal asks to confirm identity?

So I didn't realise but my stealth account was reaching $1000, got to about 700 and then Paypal sent me an email that I should confirm my identity. When I log into Paypal I get a splash screen + confirm my identity in resolution centre asking to verify my name, address, DOB etc. (has not asked to upload docs as of yet).

My question is if I continue to operate but keep it under $500 from today onwards is Paypal still going to limit my account or will they just bug me to confirm my identity every time but not take any action on my account til I hate the $1000? How does it work - can anyone share their experience?

they will bother you till you hit the $1200 i think and then limit your account. but you should really get verified

Trust me, I thought i could do the same and keep it under $700, however one day I had a massive spike in sales due to a bargin site linking to my listing, which put my paypal up to $1200.

Not worth the risk, either provide photo ID but if not make 100% sure you stay under $690 from now on.

I wonder what happens to the money never withdrawn because people cannot verify their identity to PayPal? They just keep it I suppose. Wonder who the bigger crooks are then, the stealth ebayers or PayPal that just keep money they know isnt theirs?

They keep it for 180 days, and then allows you to withdraw.

As soon as your balance hits 1000K your account will get limited until you confirm your ID.
