Default Another Question

I just sold a large item. Weighs about 15lbs. and I have it marked as shipping with usps priority or parcel post.

The customer just emailed me asking if I would consider shipping it via Fedex if he gave me the account number.

Has anyone had this happen before?

My guess is that he would probably get a better rate using an account, however, I'm not sure if this is a wise choice.

Any thoughts?

Yes I have had this happen before and its nothing wrong with it as long as you make sure the customer does the option that have a signature confirmation to show they received the order and you can trace it.

Happened to me.....with a pair of ski's. He didn't pay for shipping he said Fedex would be there on such and such a date and all I had to do was put his name and address on them. I did, Fedex came, I signed the invoice, got a tracking number, off they went and 4 days later I got positive feedback "Seller was very cooperative with shipping my way." I wish it could all be that easy.

while we're on the topic of shipping, does anyone have an account with UPS or Fed Ex? If so, do they offer shipping discounts? what are the requirements of the account?

They require a credit card. At first it was all good but then I miscalculated on one item. It was considered oversized and I didn't take that into consideration. Long story short they just charged my debit card for additional postage and never warned or emailed me first about it. Put my account in the negative by almost 30.00. If you don't know it just piles on insufficient fund fees daily. When all was said and done I was out almost 90.00. I won't be using them again online. If your scale is wrong you pay. If your measurements are off you pay. I'll stick with the USPS parcel post which most times is cheaper than UPS anyway.
