will ebay ever get a new payment provider

just wondering if ebay will ever get an alternative payment provider than paypal as paypal is killing off accounts left right and center leaving us ebayers with good long hard earned ebay accs in the mire with no were to go - or basically is this wishful thinking and ebay will only use paypal

Already possible to use other provides. Issue is in the UK PayPal must be accepted as well

As James said you can use other methods but they push PayPal so much buyers don't know anything different.

I think maybe one day Apple Pay or something similar may occur not soon though.

yea u cant sell unless u have paypal ?ebay live chat spent arf hour wimme claiming u dont need paypal and could accept cred cards only - what a laugh that was jesus ow do they even getta job there

It will be interesting to see what happens post split. I guess there must be a lot of small print between ebay and paypal covering the technicalities of the break up we will never know of. I would imagine there is a period of grace to cover any claw backs etc, so if further payment options are allowed, I wouldn't expect to see it within the next 12 months.

eBay and PayPal have a 5 year agreement in place. During that time, PayPal is guaranteed to be the processor with (I think) 80% of all business, or eBay must pay them a fee. eBay also cannot use their own payment system for 5 years. After that, they can do whatever they want to.

So, don't expect any major changes for 5 years.

Maybe in time - in next 12 months, don't foresee big changes
