Default Why are gift vouchers on ebay being bought for more than their value?

I'm planning on buying a digital SLR camera from Amazon.

I thought that I could save myself a few £ if I bought an Amazon voucher or two on Ebay, to then use on the Amazon website.

For some reason, all the vouchers are being bid up to their true value and in some cases OVER their true value.

Look here:

£50 Amazon.co.uk E-Voucher on eBay, also, Books CDs DVDs, Gift Vouchers Coupons, Tickets Travel (end time 14-Dec-08 18:42:20 GMT)

It's a £50 voucher but the bid is currently £52.

What's going on? Have I missed something here? Why would people pay over £50 for this. I don't get it!

Wink

Because it is easy to obtain. No need to go out in the freezing cold, or floods in the South West, no need to use petrol etc. Tis the holiday season and a bargain for someone. btw the bid is now £52.50. lol

I guess so, but surely with the Amazon ones, you can get those from the Amazon website anyway. There's no going out involved!

It's really bothering me (I have no life, I know). :o I messaged the seller and asked the same question. He replied:

"To be honest, i don't know, maybe some people have more money than sense."

oh well...

It's an easy way for a scammer to get paid.

As a seller I wouldn't touch vouchers.

I think it has to do with the windows live search service where you get money back for purchases on ebay and online. You can find out about it at Live Search cashback - Live Search. This is just a link and no affiliate crap.
