Default Paypal premier requirements?

So you want to accept credit cards so you try to upgrade to Paypal Premier. What does it take to upgrade? It seems that one person needed to supply an SSN and DOB (Albeit, they were trying for a business account using an EIN). Do they usually request for SSN for premier? I'm also wondering if they need to verify your address?

Is it advised to upgrade to premier for stealth accounts, or is personal OK for ebay selling and not a big deal?

(I'm selling low priced items, so I'd imagine most of my buyers shouldn't have trouble paying with e-check/bank-account/paypal funds. But, I'm still wondering how that'd affect sales.)

The premier account option has not existed for quite some time.
You can only upgrade to Business account these days.
Also, pretty sure any account can accept credit card payments and a business account has nothing to do with it.

You can still upgrade to premiere. You just need to change it to classic view or better to just type in google: paypal premiere upgrade.

Personal accounts can accept credit cards?

It seems that PayPal suggests otherwise.

Quote:

PayPal account types - Personal account

If you just need to make purchases and send money to family and friends, a Personal account is probably for you.

You can use a Personal account to:

Repay a friend for your share of lunch.
Send money as a gift.
Buy a book online.

PayPal account types - Premier account

If you don't have a full-time business, but you want to accept PayPal when you sell online, consider a Premier account.

Premier accounts have all the features of a Personal account, plus you can:

Accept debit or credit cards.
Apply for the PayPal Debit Card.
Accept PayPal for the items you sell on eBay.
Oh wait, now you /need/ a premier account to accept PayPal on eBay? I thought you could display the paypal symbol on your ebay listings with a personal account, just that you couldn't accept credit cards, but I guess you need a premier account now. Needs more research.

Straight from ebay:

Quote:
Requirements to accept PayPal payments

If you offer PayPal as a payment option on eBay (either using logos or text in the item description) you must accept all forms of PayPal payment including payments from an existing PayPal account balance, bank account transfers, and credit card payments. You can't tell eBay buyers that you will only accept specific forms of PayPal payment. See the PayPal payments policy for more information.
So I guess ebay requires PayPal premiere or Paypal Business to offer paypal as a payment option, now. Makes sense, since they want the additional 3% transaction fees on everything selling on ebay. Well, that makes the original question all the more relevant - what does paypal premiere require?

Ummm....virtually all sales are paid for with a credit card. All paypal accounts accept credit cards as far as I am aware.
Premier is pretty pointless hence it really does not exist anymore.
You either have a personal account or a business account.

Paypal says personal accounts don't accept credit cards. Read it directly from the site:

However, I could be entirely wrong and paypal's trying to be extremely deceptive.

I'm willing to bet that personal accounts don't require a credit card on file, so I'm guessing that most paypal accounts sellers use that put a credit card or VCC on file are premier or business accounts. So, I suppose "every paypal (That everyone here opens) accepts credit cards" has a kernel of truth in it.

I made 2 accounts this week and both paypal accounts were created as premier, i made the eBay first and from eBay i clicked the link to sign for paypal, and they automatically were premier, it was in classic view and towards the top of the summary the account type said premier.

First time i seen these accounts in a long time

I believe its best if your taking alot of credit card payments to have a premiere or business pp account, Or PP will be less lenient when it comes to asking for documentation.

But you can definitely use all 3 account types.

Not true,

I have many stealth accounts, using premier and business which only receive about 1 sale a month, some times one sale every 3 months. And they are not verified and PayPal haven't requested anything from me yet. In fact PayPal actually helped. Once the accounts reached a year in age PayPal sent me a notification saying starting on this day all sells we be in your instant balance. and again I did have to verify anything.

I said if you take many payments its better to have it upgraded. not 1-3 sales every 3 months.

Its not patience, if you don't care about the account. I have many account probably more than you with no limits on them. I am just giving the OP accurate information because your post is insufficient in funds.
