Question about PayPal 20K Sales Year Reset

Hello,

If one of my stealth accounts gets a notice to enter SSN at around 15K sales can I just not use it anymore until next year and would be able to continue selling next year without any issues? Or because PayPal gave out a notice it will get suspended after a few days even if I never pass the 20K sales during a year?

If you just got the notice, then you have some time, they do not immediately limit your account because of it. But you WILL have to supply the information at some point. Most people get an EIN and use that. But others also stop using it and just resume the following year. It is my understanding this HAS worked in the past, but nobody can say for sure that it will work in the future.

I would encourage you to get an EIN. You can get one FREE at the IRS website and then you will not have to worry about this issue anymore.

If you don't supply the SSN after first notice (usually around 15K sales) and just leave the account alone until next year can't you just continue selling as long as you don't pass the 20K sales within one year period.

EDIT: nvm read you comment on this already but would like to see if others have experience with this.

I have an IND" account and sold 25 items and got that request. They say anything over 50 items needs tax info Im only at 25 and they give the notice TAX INFO required. Screw that.

I got the notice in August and then a second notice in September. I never supplied the tax information they requested and my account was never limited. I still use the account as if I never received the notice. Maybe I'm just lucky or maybe my account will be limited any day now.

Actually my PP account was limited it says I cant close the account until I supply the tax information.

What was the dollar volume?

Did you use the account again during the same year? Did you ever pass 20K sales?

Got a similar situation here, need some advice please..

1 of my stealth account got tax id request on Dec 2015 and i stopped using that account on that time, if i use this account to selling my stuff this year and paypal request my tax id again, is that gonna be the first request or the second request continuing Dec 2015?

Your count has most likely already been reset.

You can easily check by logging into the paypal account. If the page requesting your tax info pops up, the account is still close to being tax limited. If you account summary pops up this means the account has been reset and you can sell again.

its not pops up but i still have a notification on the upper right that ask me to put my ssn/tax id.
