Activity: 0% Longevity: 48% | | PayPal permanently limited my account
The eBay listing relating to this limitation were already finished. I have received no messages or restrictions about this in my eBay account, just PayPal. Did someone report me? Loads of sellers are selling the same item, some have already sold over 1000 items and still ongoing.
Got this notice in my PayPal account: Quote:
Your account access has been limited for the following reason(s):
2 Dec 2015: When you signed up for your PayPal account, you agreed to our User Agreement and Acceptable Use Policy. We've had to permanently limit your account because some of your recent transactions violated this policy.
You'll be able to withdraw any money in your account 180 days after your last transaction. This is to ensure that we can cover any chargebacks that may be filed on previous transactions during this period. We'll email you when you can withdraw your money.
If you've any references to PayPal on websites you may own, please remove them.
| In the email it states this as the reason: Quote:
Under the Acceptable Use Policy, PayPal may not be used to send or receive
payments for items that infringe or violate any copyright, trademark, right
of publicity or privacy, or any other proprietary right under the laws of
any jurisdiction. This includes transactions for counterfeit items or
unauthorized replicas or copies of items.
| How are the other sellers getting away with it?
Do they keep creating different PayPal accounts?

I don't understand how sellers like this can continue to sell 100's without issue? Amazon Fire TV Stick listing 1 Amazon Fire TV Stick listing 2 Amazon Fire TV Stick listing 3
How are these sellers for example getting away with it? So has someone reported me or has it been automatically flagged by PayPal?
Thanks for any help.

There's no telling why you got limited. It could have been automated or amazon may have said something to paypal, but nobody knows or will ever know. I've successfully sold thousands of "risky" items, and there is no science to it. But I can say for sure if you have a mature account with a positive selling history, your chances of getting away with it are a lot better.

My account on eBay is 7 years old with over 400 feedback so I would consider it a mature account. 100% feedback too.

Just because other sellers can do this does not mean you can
People often make the mistake of thinking that their account with 50 feedback should be able to do the exact same things as an account with 100,000 feedback. That is just not how it works.
You have to earn the right to sell in some cases

You have to earn the right to sell in some cases | None of the listings I linked to have feedback much higher than mine or anything remotely close to 100,000.
What I want to know is why eBay or PayPal is not shutting down those listings or stopping payments for those eBay users like they have with me because I was selling the exact same item so if it is considered to be violating trademarks or is an unauthorised or counterfeit item (which it isn't) for me then it should apply to the other eBay users too, especially those with top exposure in eBay best search.

If they have already sold 1000's of that one type of items then I would assume they are a pretty big seller
It may well also be possible that they have the correct permission to sell that type of item. So while you cannot sell it, then can.
Its reasons like this that make it impossible for you to be able to judge what you can sell and cannot sell sometimes.

I think PayPal are just being hypocrites.
And the seller that has sold over 1000, that is the only thing he or she has sold all this year. A one trick pony basically and getting away with it too.

Some people get away with it, some don't.
You can either complain about how unfair it is, or run enough accounts so you can rotate sales and get away with it.
I empathise with you, as I have had certain products taken down at various times. Whilst others can sell them with seemingly.no problems.

That just means they are lucky then and have not yet been caught.
Just the way it works sometimes.

paypal does not like this sort of business practice.
Was that other paypal limited for a similar reason?

Was that other paypal limited for a similar reason? | I mean can I continue to sell other stuff (not the item I got banned over) or will they keep closing accounts in my name?
The other PayPal is also limited for the same reason.

They linked the paypal accounts.
Probably why you were banned.
Just because the ebay is good doesnt mean that the paypal will stay good.
Try using another payment processor if the ebay is still good.

Thanks.

In the UK you have to offer PayPal so using an alternative processor doesnt work well here
Your best bet is going to be to start again, as much as that may suck, in the long run it is the best move

Hi,
You said you opened the PayPal account April 2015 but the message you got from PayPal was this:
Your account access has been limited for the following reason(s):
2 Dec 2015: When you signed up for your PayPal account, you agreed to our User Agreement and Acceptable Use Policy. We've had to permanently limit your account because some of your recent transactions violated this policy.
So you must of created this PayPal account 2nd December 2015 and link this to old ebay account as your other PayPal account got limited.
Wrong move to do that. I have had a PayPal account limited and I created a new PayPal so I can carry on selling on my established eBay account. It's not a good thing to do.
In situations like yours your best bet is to start off from scratch again sell low risk items and then build the account up. I know it's a pain but I had to do it.
Make sure you have back ups as well.
You can always rotate sales around and make more money that way.
