Default Another SSN Question please

Hey guys,
I have read the forum and researched as much as i can regarding this issue.
My paypal US has recently got limited and are asking for ID docs, supplier invoices and SSN etc...

i can provide all docs but the SSN....

My account has no where near reached 20k$ sales nor 200 items, but more like 5 items, 2500$...

so they obviously think high risk or something...

I need to know how I can go about this SSN requirement, I am a non US citizen and just operating a US stealth acc...

I need some alternative to get round this, or my account is toast...

All help is appreciated
Thanks

As far as I know, there's no way around a SSN request but hopefully others can chime in. My only thought is maybe changing the account to Business and entering an EIN but I'm not 100% sure.

In my experience, if a limitation is asking for an SS, it it toast anyways, even when you can supply it.

it seems a hassle having a US acc with these limits etc... when you could just get any european acc, and sell on US marketplace directly..?

I think PP will still have to manually lift your limitation, which means if there was another reason OTHER THAN proving you are who you say you are or for tax report purposes, chances high they will still perma-limit you.

I'd start looking into why this happened in the first place... is your IP fresh and from US? That could be a reason you have issues with US PPs

Im using 24vc for a dedicated US IP, bought the account from the forum, and setup was perfect. I had been using and selling succesffuly for a few months, been selling high priced items though, $600 each, and sold 5 of them, one opened a case with Paypal, and perhaps that triggered this? as in percentage terms its quite high?

Would you recommend i spend money on docs etc to lift the limit or move on? (i do have 1700usd in the accoutn aswell..)

It would depend on if you can get around the SSN request... I guess I was in this situation I would probably attempt to call PayPal and ask if it's possible to substitute a EIN by upgrading to business before I spent money trying to save a hot account.

A LOT of times, when you call in, paypal only wants some of the info they ask for in the limitaion email/page.

It is possible that you dont need to supply the SS when you call in. You can tell them you are an immigrant and dont have an SS if they press the issue.

If they are asking for your SOCIAL no.

I don't believe there is any logical workaround once this is requested. For starters to get it REMOVED you would need to talk to at least a supervisor but most likely an actual manager.

How on earth can you explain to them that you don't want to provide social but ID is perfectly fine? In order for a manager to reverse the limitation he/she would have to explain why and the simple "I don't want to supply it to keep my identity protected etc etc" won't work.

Keep in mind we ALL agree to these terms so once something like this happens its to my knowledge there is no undo button. Unless you just get super lucky and get a supervisor that is having either an amazing day, or is about to quit and could careless with they think.

It MAY work and it may not. I am sure from that point paypal has a procedure BUT you have one of the strongest limitations where they dont believe you are who you say you are already and that is why I said in my first post that I have not found these limitations to be worth fighting.

Now, also I have had that request and called in and they wanted a photo ID and proof of address only and not demanding the SS and have had success. These were also non EIN business accounts and not personal accounts.

*******UPDATE*******

just called PP, asked what they needed, when they mentioned confirmation of my SSN i told them i am not a native american and dont have one yet. He asked if i had a visa or somehting i could send in instead. HE said if i sent a student visa that would be fine...

What do you think? time to spend money on docs? or still leave it?

do you really like this account?
If so, load up docs. If not, move on. That is your decision to make.

also, if you just want to get your funds out, is it worth the risk of loading docs to maybe get your money quickly? Only you can determine this.
