Default Chargeback risk for Merchant accounts

I wanted to ask if we're using Merchant accounts for my online cart (NOT EBay) and buyer pay through CC/DC, can they do a chargeback? and what are the chances of them winning?

Which merchant account is better in handling this to prevent chargeback?

Every merchant account has a set a guidelines that if followed correctly, would prevent you from being responsible for a chargeback.. its all about playing by their rules

yaw1800, not true. People will still do chargebacks and the merchant account provider then gives you a chargeback fee. Even if you win the chargeback, you don't get the chargeback fee back.

I think he's just adding on to the statement. lol..

Out to get Jonas..

But I kind of agree, I get chargebacks every once in awhile, and there isn't a lot you can do from stopping them. You can set your merchant account to only receive payments from a credit card with a valid address, security code, zip code, etc etc and you'll still receive chargebacks. It's even worse with PayPal.

It's part of the game, you just need to know how not to get scammed.

I only get charged for Amex chargebacks.. I don't get hit with others..

damn amex users..

My merchant account company told me that account reps are always trying to get a deal where if the merchant wins a chargeback, the chargeback fee is refunded and the merchant account always refuses.

I also asked merchantplus and they say chargeback fees are non-refundable.

PS: hehe the forum puts some referal link in for merchantplus
