Couldn't purchase on ebay with vanilla card
I bought a vanilla debit after reading about them on here. had my paypal acct limited forever but still have ebay acct in good standing which is rather hopeless I think because I can't sell without paypal. Anyway, I think at the very beginning of this horror that I tried to buy something on ebay with real info for everything, and the purchase was declined by paypal. So haven't done anything with ebay for ~9 months. Wanted to buy some things, so got a vanilla card, and did the registration online with the zip code first. My cart went through for the first 4 things, then the last one wouldn't go through. Got some vague error like check billing address which really didn't apply with the vanilla debit card. I logged in as a guest using my real cell phone on public wifi, used a nickname for checkout, the vanilla card, and real address. Then I tried a VCC by Blur and it was declined as well. Called the vanilla 800 # and the lady said that they wanted a card that had personal information attached to it. I asked if this was common, she said she had never used ebay and knew nothing about them [liar]. I was trying to buy a game boy advance for $25. So, my questions are, is it my cell phone, my address, what I was buying, did I muff it somehow with the name attached to my purchase vs what I had on the vanilla card registration, or what happened ??? I don't think I had to register name, address, etc with the vanilla card online when I registered it- just the zip code. I know the card still has the funds. Is this card now dead as far as any future purchases on ebay? Like if I wanted to buy baby booties or something non-sinister? If anybody could enlighten me I would be forever greatful. I know the obvious answer is to buy a paypal acct, but I want to understand if my address, phone, nickname, the last name of smith, whatever, is contaminated or if I bungled the purchasing steps which are setting off alarm bells. Thanks for any replies. |
