Default Accept power seller or not

Just got the email invite for powerseller. Been a little hesitant because ol uncle sam is going after powersellers. But, if it came down to it, they probably would have a cut off point. So everybody over a certain amount would get taxed regardless of being a powerseller. I plan on claiming it on taxes anyway.

So, is it worth it. I'm looking at the fee discount. All my dsr's are 4.8 and higher, so I should get a %15 discount on fvf.

There could be a problem if you accept it as I believe they send something in the mail and if your address is bunk and ebay gets the letter returned i can see a problem there, other than that i think its a good choice to take.

I have NEVER received anything in the mail and I have 3 Powerseller accounts right now.
2 at Silver and 1 at Bronze
You can choose to NOT receive snail mail from eBay.
It is in your preferences inside your eBay account.

I have the same situation. I don't want to receive the certificate because the address is ⊗⊗⊗⊗.

This account is under my real info though, had it since 2003. So I went ahead and accepted it. I think the fee 15% fee discounts are worth it, but they don't kick in until your next invoice.

hateebay, I don't think one certificate getting returned should be a problem, just set your preferences to not receive anything, so boxes of mail dont get returned. Dont hold me to my word on that though...

The Powerseller status is nice for the discounts and the accounts seem to be able to take a few more hits. My new main selling account just got it this week, this is my 4th account now that has been a Powerseller. Of course my other 3 got taken down in November :-(

The only downside is that buyers seen to be a little more critical if you show the logo. I had a witch whose item got lost by the post office before Christmas, we paid for insurance, so no problem, right? She filed a Paypal dispute on New Years day because we didn't respond to an e-mail she sent at 10:30 on New Years Eve. Issued a full refund, got a neg yesterday, when I e-mailed her, she said "I wasn't going to leave a negative, but I saw you are now a Powerseller..."

Yep, you can get a couple more hits. I'm at 4 now, two this week. Regular accounts is about 3 violations. One more and Im gone, might be gone later today when ebay gets around to their ban hammer. But on the upside though, they cancelled my auctions after buyers paid, so I get away with a hundred bucks in fees.

JohnnyBoy,

Did you still receive the certificate after you set your preference to "not receive anything". How do you know if you get 1 more hit, you will be gone (after getting 4 hits already)? Did they warn you the 4th warning was the last one? Please share.

HateEbay, Here is the Direct Link to adjust your mail Settings under Notification Preferences Once there scroll down to "Promotions and Surveys" towards the bottom and uncheck the boxes.

Hope this helps.

Please click on the picture below....
This will show you the allowed violations per Powerseller Level.
Once you receive more than the allowed number your account goes NARU.
The violations can be anything but usually for us they are VERO hits.

Thank you Here We Go Again for the information. Could you also show me how to set the preferences to "not to receive anything from Ebay" (I haven't accepted the Powerseller invitation thought, so wonder if that choice shows).

Log into "My eBay"
Left hand side column
Notification Preferences>Show All> Scroll to the bottom
Set your Preferences to not get any mail from eBay.
Click on Save.

See the picture.

Hey guys,

I got an invitation too. I am thinking about accepting it. But I have 2 Paypal disputes right now. Does it matter?

And also, do Power Sellers get scrutinized by Ebay more often and more strictly?

I'm just trying to weigh the pros and cons.

Thanks!

Every time I get power seller on an account it goes down shortly after. they do start to call you a lot, and I use to get stuff in the mail every month. like was said you can turn that part off to stop direct mailings.

PowerSeller status is good for hits it can take and fee discount. Any money you don't have to pay EBAY is money in your pocket.

I was thinking the same thing, I have 1 PS and 1 regular acc.
I thought that the regular acc would attract less trouble makers... it doesn't.

So I'd definitely take the PS status for the hits and discounts yea.

If you had one or 2 strikes/warnings and then got the power seller invitation, would you take it or does that draw attention to your account?

Thanks!
