Hi there, OK I took over a friend’s seller account when he emigrated. I did nothing with it for 2 years – I forgot I had it – and only tried to list something last week. It said I was logging on from a new computer and wanted to text me a code. Sadly I don’t have his mobile. So I amended the phone number in Personal Details to my mobile and tried again. Unfortunately I was then asked to call an 0800 number so clearly alarm bells have rang.
I’ve not called as I wanted to ask you guy first what you think I’ll be asked when I call? I want to be fully prepared so I don’t lose this mature account!
Thanks in advance …

I am confident that their security processes do not extend to such lengths, at the moment, but the previous advice from the others is crucial to undertake.
The reason a hold is being placed, is because the account was dormant for an extended length and then information was suddenly changed.
For now, it is a standard procedure check, but do not make it worse by giving them wrong info or any other reason to become suspicious of you.
If you are concerned about your voice being recorded, use the live chat, as most holds, especially minor, can be lifted by them.
Firstly you’ll need to confirm name and address on account, possibility you might be asked to confirm contact number too. Then what are your future plans selling on eBay eg. Items you will sell, brands etc. Finally you’ll be asked for supplier name and locations. Chance they may also ask if you’d be able to supply invoices if we (eBay) ask in future... this information is based on personal experience!
