You have done the right things, but there could be a virus on it silently, maybe others will recommend some good cleaners...suppose you tried malwarebytes? keep an eye on your credit, maybe get some credit agency checks for a while. If it was me, I would use this laptop for a spare or just browsing, or give it to a kid in the family to play on....see it as a good time to upgrade yourself...
they called me on my cell once too, but I just asked stupid questions, like what is windows, do you mean like a window on the house, until they hung up...
don't they get you to download a virus and then try and extort money out of you to remove it?
I doubt they can get on to your wifi network, without being connected on it, they would need to be close by and have the password...in any case wifi even in the same house does not mean you can get docs from a desktop, without physical access to that desktop or a connection like eg. teamviewer...
kids and old people need to know about these scams....
