Exclamation Buyer paid the wrong way?

Sold a product to a customer

5 months later, the buyer opens a dispute with paypal with
"paid the wrong way". Never seen something like this before. Apparently he paid with his paypal account, but he was suppose to use his paypal credit/debit card? I guess it took him 5 months to realize that?

I would think regardless, the item was still paid for, no matter what he used that was in his name. Paypal of course deducted money putting my account in the red. I've sold since and account is good
There was no unauthorized transaction, no item not as described

It was "paid the wrong way"
It's actually been 25 days, and still under review with paypal

Anyone?

guess he is disappointed because he wanted to file a chargeback with his card and only realised now he paid with his balance.

I wonder if any seller has actually lost this type of dispute
If the buyer gets refunded, then he gets too keep, and there is nothing that says, he needs to pay me the "right way" whatever that means

Im fairly certain if that was the dispute reason its total bollocks, have you tried contacting PayPal via phone and giving them an explanation. I have nothing but 10/10 experiences with PayPal UK phone support.

I agree. I've had more than a few disputes/returns where the reason was total B.S. The real reason is simply often just buyers remorse, or they got into a financial bind and wanted to get their money back.

Let's face it "paid the wrong way" is certainly not a valid reason, but if the guy did a changeback via his CC co., then PayPal has to deal with it. I would be interesting to see how they rule on it. Keep us posted on the outcome.

Calling paypal is of course a risk on a stealth account.

But if you think it's worth it, I'd say call them... just be prepared with your info and you are calling from the number registered etc

I waited this same scenario out and what happened to me is that, paypal decided with the buyer and refunded them even though I never got paid "another way".
