PayPal Changed Algo? I see more holds now.

In the past 1 month I got many holds on my accounts. even on accounts 5-10years+ that were getting a consistent 2000-3000$ monthly.

Hold looks like this:


You received a payment from BUYER NAME. We've placed the money for this transaction on hold because we believe this transaction may involve a higher than usual risk. Providing no issues arise between you and the buyer, the funds will be released in the morning of Jul 18, 2017.


It usually occurs on all sales:
-that are internationally
-when buyer have an unverified account

I only saw it for transactions over 100$ on my old accounts.

Anyway today somebody with a verified account sent me a payment of 200$ and boom , hold on a 10 years account. Maybe his account is new.

Paypal does things in mysterious ways. Don't think that it's your at fault, consider about the sender's account as well.

Yes. But i think they changed algos so now if the buyer account is "risky" they will hold the money.

same for me, received 50gpb payment from new account and PP hold it.
other payments goes without holds, even bigger amounts

So they changed their algos, because bad things for them goes like this

1. a scammer create an account and scam somebody
2. paypal side with the scammer (sorry , with the buyer!)
3. seller gets mad and drop account saying they can sue him but we won't pay a 1$


So now they hold money from new accounts so in the case things goes bad they can just return them to scammer (sorry buyer).
