After having set up a few ets.y stealth accounts I get the feeling that there are a few critical moments for new accounts. The most crucial seems to be the first sale... It looks to me like e.tsy is performing a manual review on the account once the first sale was made, especially because the orders are pending fairly long and orders after that process within seconds.
What are your thoughts on this?

I think it really depends. Ive opened up a few stealth etsy accounts now and with some I get my first sale and it goes through immediately with others they process for sometimes up to 24 hours and then go through.
With my last account though my first 3 sales all processed for a while and then I got hit with the email from etsy asking how I make the item. After that they shut me down.
I opened a new account last night that got its first sale and it went through automatically and it seems fine so far (fingers crossed).
My opinion is they don't manually review every single account as that would be impossible but maybe they flag certain things on accounts and those accounts are manually reviewed.

I usually, should I get hit with a review, have made 40-50 sales before I'm questioned. Basically the account gets too hot too quick for their liking. Otherwise, never seemed to have issues on the first sale.
I believe all of my first sales get reviewed, and the wait time probably depends on the current workload for that department. But to me once the first sale gets approved it's smooth running from there.

Exactly me feeling... but the regulars here seem not to experience this.
