I've sold 300 of item XYZ.
Now out of stock.
Category is womens clothing.
(No sale in many weeks - but still have 300 sold showing)
Can I change the item to something COMPLETELY different?
Like a cart part?? LOL
Yes: I know I have to keep variations that got sold.
But I thought I'd change title and add new variations.
And put the womens item variations all out of stock.
New variations:
- Size 8 womens bra (Not available)
- Gear shift part for Ford Mustang
Is this AGAINST eBay laws?
Thanks!

Re: Out of stock item - can I change item completely?
It's search & browse manipulation and can get you in trouble if you're caught. I believe auto parts are category limited so this could be seen as trying to circumvent category limits. Either way it's a no-no.
Re: Out of stock item - can I change item completely?
In any case a substantial change to title, pictures, and description means the listing is re-ranked as new, so you don't get any real benefit from the sales history, which is what you probably were thinking.
Re: Out of stock item - can I change item completely?
@dallis... no... all that didn't matter. there have been no sales for many weeks (it was a summer product).
the ONLY thing i was interested was using the listing and have 300 sales - nothing else.
my thinking is, this is a small factor that might influence a buyer.
substantial changes in pictures and description does nothing as far as m aware?
is this wrong? would like to know if my assumption is wrong.
Re: Out of stock item - can I change item completely?
It used to be able to sell a pin lets say 99p get 100s of sales then change it to a Charger or whatever and still have 100s sales be top.I just tried to do what you want to do for a slight description change and you cant change it once its sold on the variation etc.
