Default Is TracFone a Good Option Nowadays?

As of a couple of years ago, you could buy a TracFone for $5 and it would come with 20 minutes or so upon activation. Does anyone know if this has changed?

I believe they don't offer that anymore.....most likely us stealthers abused the sh*t out of that and forced them to stop......

You have to buy the prepaid cards now, but you can change the number when you activate the phone number.

Honestly, I have about 10 eBay accounts. I had a TracFine for each account for a couple of years, but I decided that I didn't wanna spend the thousands of dollars to keep them active and I eventually let them expire. Now when I try to update the token for Auctivia and Ink Frog, it's wanting to verify my eBay account by phone. These old TracFones won't even allow me to reactivate them. It says that the IMEI is invalid or whatever. I would assume that it would be alright if I told them that I don't have that # anymore and change it to another one. I just don't wanna spend that money to buy new phones and pay for activation just to link to Auctivia and Ink Frog. But, looks like I might have to unless anyone has any better ideas

Once the number expires there is no way of getting them back.

If the accounts are old enough, you can call them up and explain your number has changed without a problem

I wasn't even trying to get the numbers back. I would love to, but I don't expect to. I'm just trying to buy a $10 card for one with any number

The tracfones are still one of the better options in my opinion.

Or you can call your cell provider and see if they have a "family" plan for small kids that doesn't cost an arm and a head

T-Mobile sims are good too if you have a unlocked GSM phone. You have to get them from the t-mobile website and they come with enough minutes to set up a account and a VOIP number. You can find them for sale sometimes for under $5

I got a cheap LG duel sim card GSM unlocked phone off ebay a while back.

The t-mobile sims at local stores don't come with minutes. Unless I waited too long to set mine up or something... Mine had no minutes.

Are you saying that after you activate a number, you can take that number to GV?

For the record, this problem could have been avoided if I didn't let my token expire. I updated all of my other ones that were still good and it allowed me to confirm through email instead of by phone
