Your best bet is to use a real phone number when registering the ebay account....then switching over to something like Google Voice.

Finding a free phone service that accepts short message service, or security codes can be a problem. As MM78 pointed out above, register with a real mobile phone (or landline #) don't use a VoIP #.

I was able to use a free google voice number to verify pp account. They texted the code and it was e-mailed to my gmail address.

T mobile, pre paid works fine for me, I also like to use T mobile's hotspot from said phone
