Default First collection attempt after 10 years

So I probably haven't used Ebay in at least 10 years. Bought a few things back in the day and tried to sell a game system but no one bought it. Pretty sure I paid the selling fee. SO i cant really think of why this is happeneing.
So yesterday, I got a call from some guy claiming to be with Ebay collections. He started by asking if I lived at an address from 10 years ago. Then he claimed I owed $224. Everything about it sounded like a scam. I monitor my credit pretty close. If I owe a debt i'm going to know about it before it goes to collections. So I just hung up on the guy.
But today I logged onto Ebay and got a notice that my acct was suspended. And in the alerts was messages claiming I owed this money. The oldest invoice is from May 2017 followed by a message the next day telling me to pay my debt to avoid my acct being suspended. I'm assuming they delete alerts older than 6 months. I'm really not that concerned about my account. My ebay score is 19 so I didn't even use it much back then and have no plans of using it again.
How do I find out what the charge is for? Can i just ignore them? I use Paypal regularly and have never received any notice from them. So pretty sure this is just Ebay.

There's no way you ended up with $224 in selling fees due from a listing years ago which didn't even end in a sale. At most you would owe a few dollars for a listing insertion fee.

Your account may have been compromised. Only thing I can think of unless there's more to the story. Either way, easiest way to get this sorted out is to call eBay and find out what you owe them for.

Something sounds fishy here.
This guy claiming to be from "eBay Collections" is trying to get $224 from a decade ago?

If they call again, tell them to pound sand.

My first thought was scam call until OP said his eBay account also reflects the debt.

Either a weird glitch or a hacked account IMO.

Hacked account sounds likely, check your ebay associated email and see if there's been any activity

The associated email is old too. Haven't checked it in 10 years either. Yahoo canceled it years ago.
