Default 21 day holds on 5 year old account

I have no idea why this keeps happening. 5 out of 6 transactions have a " random hold". They won't give me real reasons why. They won't stop it. It's happening now more than before. When they do happen to not hold a payment, they then hold the withdraw. People on the phone are absolutely USELESS. What's worse is, these are mainly international transactions, so it's pretty much the full 21 days hold.

Nothing they do is random. There's a reason the payments are being held even if PP's clueless representatives don't know it. There isn't anything any of us can do to help. We all deal with holds...

Just because holds are removed doesn't mean you're in the clear.

You are still subject to one off holds on certain transactions, such as:
* Selling risky items.
* If you become dormant for a period of time.
* If your sales grow too quick.
* If you have a lot of disputes/cases filed against you.
* If a transaction is reported unauthorised.

Generally, if a transaction poses risk.

You said they seem to all be international transactions, perhaps there's your answer.

It doesn't always need to be a risk on your part (recipient), if the sender poses a lot of risk, that also can put funds on hold (though rare).

When there's something suspicious about the payment on the buyer's end, Paypal holds the payment for a 24-48 hour "review". When that happens Paypal tells you not to ship the order until they finish their investigation.

If Paypal is telling you to ship the order while the funds are being held then you know the hold is caused by something on your end. This most likely relates to you selling internationally on a sporadic basis.

I'm also inclined to think it's about the international transactions, although I sell about 10% overseas and don't have the problem, but my individual transactions are pretty small.

Were these for lots of money? Were they an of an unusual frequency?

I get a lot of international transactions that get the 21-day hold.

I thought so too, and my international sales did seem to spike to about 75% this month, but now even my domestic sales are being held. These sales in particular are watches worth $80-200

You're selling expensive items in a heavily counterfeited category at Christmas time. On top of that your int'l sales have spiked 75%.

You're making PP nervous so they put holds on your account. Be happy you weren't limited with an invoice request. One of my stealth accounts (which started selling $100+ items about 2 months ago, but sold $10 items the rest of the year) got this same 21-day hold and it's only had maybe 15% int'l.

It's not like I'm new to this category tho. And while my int'l sales did spike, and I left this alone because I assumed, like others on here, that it was those sales they had an issue with, I'm back to having a problem now that my none international sales are getting caught up.

And I can't figure out the rhyme or reason. I sold something for $150 just 5 days ago, and it didn't get locked up. Then I sell something for $95, and it does?

I'd be ok with all this, BUT because the sales are international, I won't see the money for pretty much the whole 21 days!

Who knows.. maybe it's random. All we can do is roll with the punches though.
