Default Craigslist Scam Email's

Well I know alot of people on this forum use craigslist to sell and have to deal with these annoying scam emails on a daily basis so I thought it would be funny to share my scam emails with you all and hopefully you will too

sunad moris (sunadmoris@gmail.com)

Hello seller
It cool and nice hearing back from you , i will like to buy this item to my friend. I will not be able to make cash payment due to some business trip that am kind of engage with but am ready to choose PAYPAL as my payment method, since is the most fastest and secure means of transacting online. I offer $200 and $50 as the shipping fees and i want the item to be mail out through the **USPS / EMS** simply because is cheap.. So kindly get back to me with your paypal e- mail address if you have one and if you don't you can simply log on to www.paypal.com and register for one so you can get back to me with it if it's accepted..
Thanks....

LOL, that's one of the reasons I don't use Craigslist,.. I would mostly get scam emails like this. No need to share, they are alike.

Scam Emails are easy to spot. Just avoid them and don't respond. There is no need to waste your time when they are not paying COP (Cash On Pickup).

How are people able to churn out ⊗⊗⊗⊗ money orders so cheaply? I got this stuff on craigslist too and before that I thought that this was only for expensive goods and I'll get it for cheap stuff on craigslist.

yea, they'll buy $50 item from you and send you the check for $500, so you send them back overpayment difference. lol. They must be getting desperate as more and more people are seeing through those scams. They used to be targeting more expensive items and their checks were than in thousands...

Lyda, they've been targetting the cheap items for years from what I've gotten.

thakid212, I got one time where it was a 2-3 hour trip to visit someone, I got lost on the way and when I was nearly there they called and said they had to leave. Sucked.

I got tired of that real quick.

I found a gas station near me, and I have them call me when they get there. Takes me about 30-45 seconds to get there, so I don't have that problem as much anymore.

Scamers are everywhere, not only on Craig List. Watch for them if they get hold of your resume (CareerBuilder.com, Monster.com).They will send you scam emails offering jobs processing others people money. It's a bad economy and unemployment at record highs, so that's where they look now for victims. Watch out!

Once you use craigslist enough, you will know which ones are spam / scam and which ones are not.

Report the scams to their webhost and domain registrar, they ussually disable the site if it is against the law.

To find this information visit...

Domain Tools: Whois Lookup and Domain Suggestions and enter their website address.

Craigslist is free and powerful, I get an average of 20-30 spam / scam emails a day and sometimes much more, I delete them, they are getting better so I dont put a lot of time into the first response as most will be auto replies telling you to go to a website.

There are a lot of good people and buyers and you can do much better than ebay, the bad people just tend to out number the good.

I had received an email for a job offer. 100K - 200K part-time and work from home. I qualified for everything they are looking for...except for the last item "Must have Credit Score of 700 and above". LMAO. So out of curiosity, I sent them a resume, of course, I used a different name and address but very impressive. I also stated that I had a credit score of 810. So without an interview I was hired and was required to fill out an employment application. Of course it asked for all the private stuff: name, address, bday, ssn etc and they told me I can start as soon as they receive my application. I thought I'd share this to keep people informed.

Why do those people would scam us sellers? I do not understand why they would do that? I recently also receive offer to buy like that:

Thanks for your reply concerning my inquiry. I am quite comfortable with the condition of the item. Since I won't be making any repairs on it, I will add $50 to the purchase price... for you to hold it for me,Please provide your full name, Address and your Phone number so that I can send your payment. I will be paying you by Check.. It will take 2 -3 days for the payment to get to you...As for delivery, I will make arrangements for the pick-up after you have received payment,If this meets your approval, kindly get back to me, as soon as possible, with your name, phone # and mailing address where payment will be sent, so that I can have my assistant get the Check ready.

Note: As soon as you have your money in hand, we can talk about the picking up of the item. I would like you to take the posting off craigslist.org today.

Best Regards.

As I never think someone would scam me to buy my items, I have agreed with the person to hold the items for him and take the ad off. I am waiting for his check to come. He also told me that his assistant seems to overpay me, so as soon as I receive check and cash it, please send him back the difference.

Can you explain to me why would people do that?

Be careful. It can be a ⊗⊗⊗⊗ check and you can end up in big trouble. Besides, that email sounds very scam'ish.

That's definitely a scam! After you cash the check it will bounce. That will leave you with no item, and all money from check deducted from your bank account.

This is pretty funny because Vu Lan Nhi is not even the name I registered with Paypal and the email was sent from this address: online.tracking17@accountant.com

I deal with paypal all the time and I know that they do not send me this kind of email for confirmation of a transaction. I wish I can get a real customer soon. So tired of these scammers.
