Default Is there a comparable alternative to paypal that ebay allows?

I am really wanting to get rid of having to use paypal all together. Is there any comparable alternative payment options that ebay allows with there auctions? How do you go about getting your own "terminal" to accept credit/debit card payments? Is it expensive? Thanks to all! :D

The answer is simply no. The word eBay automatically pulls alongside the word Paypal, and without the two together, people won't be interested.

People feel a sense of security with Paypal, as opposed to a third party processor.

Not saying you won't get any sales without offering Paypal, but you'll probably loose around 80% or so.

can you even list on ebay without paypal anymore. I dont think you can at all. What always annoys me is people who think immediately since you dont want to accept paypal that youre a scam artist.

That's the biggest problem. You can bypass the usual direct Ebay>PayPal payment route, its possible, but its the buyers who object and if they won't play then its game over. They are paranoid androids

They do, but same old problem- buyers don't like it. If you are selling in any volume then it does become a real pain trying to get people to pay with it- and it can be time consuming.

How do you do that? Is it an old account so you can refuse PayPal?

Default Useing Other Merchant Accounts

I am really confused .You can add several diffrent kinds of merchant accounts to Ebay at this point .Moneybookers,Propay etc why dont you guys know this ?Moneybookers is very easy to add .I have been trying all the merchant accounts that ebay allows to test them and moneybookers is very easy to add if you dont want to use paypal.

Yes, but you still have to accept PayPal right, unless the accounts old? so buyers just go right ahead and pay through PayPal. Plus you have to get the merchant account approved by Ebay- documents etc

Default Documents/Paypal

No you do not have to use paypal you can just use one of the merchant accounts on the list and no you do not need any documents .Example if you use moneybookers(i just use them as a example and there easy I am not trying to promote them )you sign up after you sign up on the prefrence page you can link ebay .Moneybookers connects your account useing a token just like Actuvia and your done .no documents or anything real simple .I think everyone is so Paypal trained they dont even try these new things on ebay .Also dont try and ask ebay live about this because ebay is to dam stupid and they dont know how it works .So you will find all this information on ebay in there forums .I spent two days on live chat and after giving up I looked one more time in forums and a Ebayer posted how to do it .Ebay doesnt have any post telling you how to do this .But why would they ebay wants you to use paypal.you guys in AUS can use paymate i signed up for them also .All the merchants are pretty easy to deal with .If you can sign up with Paypal you can easly sign up with one of these other merchants its just learning something new .Get enough people doing this and stop useing Paypal then you clients will start learning how to use other services also .If your clients are going to act like monkeys then retrain the monkey .

Exclude me from the Australia bit as you do not know anything about where I list.
I repeat, especially as the OP was from a user in the USA, my comment that paypal is needed to sell in certain categories. Yes there are alternate
methods. Merchant accounts need documents sent in for approval. There are more threads on the forum that you may not have read. They talk about your programs. The buyer is not the only monkey, I might add.
