Default Etsy buyer refused package on delivery

A etsy buyer sent a message saying the package was not received and wanted a refund.
Etsy system shows the package was delivered.
USPS site shows the package was refused and returned to sender.
In the message from buyer, he/she didn't mention the package was "refused".
Sender didn't receive the package.
If this buyer opened a case, what will happened?
I think the buyer changed mind and refused the package on delivery but how will etsy case system deal with this?

Yes I have proof.
I just don't know how will etsy evaluate a case like this because I don't have any experience on this type of case.
I heard that if it is a Amazon buyer who said " i didn't receive a package", amazon will just refund the buyer.
Just another crazy and selfish buyer that gives headache.

Could have also been delivered to the wrong address and the recipient refused it.

You never received the refused package?

TBH, from personal experience most buyers are telling the truth and USPS loses/damages a lot of packages - just comes down to whether you want to take the hit or the buyer from USPS mistake. I'll usually refund in hopes they'll return and purchase another product, but that's in terms of building up a brand, the refunds are small, and the expensive items are insured with priority mail.

I haven't dealt with etsy on this level so I have no live experience to offer you. You're right about amazon but etsy could be different....

If one of the tracking shows delivered, attach it to the case and it'll automatically close.

Otherwise, Etsy oddly enough won't hold it against you if a buyer refused to accept a parcel. I've had this happen, I've got the cases closed in my favor as it was their responsibility to take possession of the item and unless the tracking shows I had it back, they'd let me keep the funds.

Yes I use priority mail to ship this package.
No I never received the refused package.

I am very worry about this situation.
Thank you for sharing your 1st hand experience.
If the buyer refuse a package, can USPS tracking website show the shipper receive the refused package?
It has been two weeks and I haven't received this package.

You could try filing a claim with USPS. Up to $50 is covered free with priority. USPS will either allow or deny you. It's hard to say because packages delivered to incorrect address aren't covered (totally asinine) but lost packages are and yours might fall into the lost category. They usually process my claims in about 3 business days

If the package was sent the a wrong address by the postman and refused by the wrong receiver, the postman should probably re-send the package back to the right house instead of marking it "Return to Sender Processed". I cannot see the return route and there is no way to track this refused package right now. This is trouble. The good thing is that Etsy tracking shows "delivered in mailbox" and it doesn't show the refusal message afterward.

Kind of weird to refuse a package and then complain they didn't receive it and want a refund... Irregardless Etsy will side with you if you have delivery confirmation. You could probably claim it too.
