greenbean, thank you for your reply but i checked that web and i can find the bank name by bank routing number but not by the bin code, the first 6 digits of credit card.
To prevent credit card fraud, I reckon. Any buyer I have from O/S gets checked if they ask to pay by CC.Many rackets and scams happen. Then I say pay via paypal as a safeguard in any case. I love paypal.

The first six digits of the credit card is known as the bin (Bank Identification number). a BIN List is a large list of banks and bin numbers that are associated with them.

Re: how to find out the bank name by credit card number?
I'm pretty sure every bank has the special numbers at the begging of the card number by which you can check the name of the bank. Not sure where exactly you can do this, but if you need to check the bank you can use https://bank-routing.org/314074269-u...routing-number to check by routing number. You can see the way I checked the number I had. And you can do vice versa. By the name of the bank you can find a tracking number, so save the link to the site in case if you need it one day.

Heck of a thread bump!
The first 6 digits are the BIN (Bank Identifier Number) and can be used to work out the issuing bank, type of card (VISA, MasterCard etc) and the sort of card it is (prepaid, CC, DC etc)
