Default Limited? Do This!

Don't be afraid to call in! It adds a personal touch and credibility to your case. I have had more luck calling in and talking to somebody than complying with any automated requests.

One of my stealth account was just limited for unusual sales pattern. They requested Photo ID. Plus I had my only two disputes last week during a hospital stay, but they didn't mention that and neither did I. Long story short, I had a good time talking to the reps, talked Guiness Beer with a rep from Dublin who only really needed to verify a text code to lift the limit. It happened immediately. It was quite comical the way the first rep explained their need for vetting because people are creating "stealth accounts" (LOL)

Tips for calling in:
Don't wait. Call as soon as there's an issue.
Be Confident. Being a nervous Nancy will probably not work.
Understand some basic "Social Engineering"
Have all of your stealth info laid out in front of you.
DO NOT VOLUNTEER EXTRA INFORMATION.
Be friendly and make small talk if possible.
Use the phone number associated with your account.

If they ask for something you cannot/will not provide, ask for alternatives. Just say something vague like "I'm really not able to provide that today, is there anything else we can do to verify me?" Again, do not volunteer extra information, like a reason that you cannot provide what they originally asked for.

When they ask me for something specifically I like to bring up a concern first: "I was just really worried because I have just made such and such sales, and I would hate for this situation to prevent me from satisfying my customers."

Anyway, apparently a text verification code is sufficient in lieu of photo ID.

Not sure why people are afraid to call PayPal in the first place?

Maybe it's because they feel guilty they did something wrong?

These reps are human and usually quite helpful. I call PayPal on average about once a week or so and rarely have problems with them.

If you are scared, have a friend or family member do it for you. If you're married, your spouse. Not a big deal.

Well I tried your method and the very nice attentive representative explained to me in a VERY NICE manner that I still had to send in picture ID even though I only had sold $500 worth of product and the $150 single order is what triggered the request. I even politely asked (said I was on disability and need to use paypal balance to send packages) and she said let me check and came back on 5 minutes later and explained no way around it. Said they had no problem with the items I was selling. Now I am trying to find someone somewhere to come up with an Oregon ID.

Have you tried calling again and speaking with someone else?

They feel afraid because their money is on the line. One wrong move and you are toast.

It might have been in this case but in general it isn't. It depends on the cause of the limitation.

Um, like 1500 I think. My transactions are usually about 250 but then had one for 550. I don't do a high volume, maybe a dozen transactions a week.

I'm not saying it's a fool proof method guys, just one more tool to put in the box. Of course there is a possibility of error, and social engineering is not for everyone. For what it's worth, the first rep couldn't really do anything then transferred me to (I think she said an account manager or specialist) someone with a little more authority.

I always ask where they're from, and the weather, and make a connection to that to start some friendly banter. People are sometimes willing to go easier on ya if they feel they're talking to a friend. But one thing can't be disputed, they do have the option I presented, it's up to you to sweet talk them into it.

If you're getting nowhere, end the call as politely as possible or just f,ake a dropped call, and try back at another time.

Best

Just be calm and composed if you ever need to call in. But more importantly have all your account information in front of you before you start the call.

As far as calling if you don't have the device with the linked phone # is that an issue?

Dont want to get linked because if phone I used to call.

I have access to a text for verification but not the actual phone to call (gv#)

As far as GV I use it and just call directly from my laptop choosing "hangouts" as the phone.

I wouldn't use a number to call in that has been associated with any other account, banned or not.

Same limit hit on another account, this time the first rep in Asia was very nice, I had her laughing but still all she would do is take notes and tell me to do the best I can with documentation. I said all I have right now is a temporary paper license and she said that would do.

As soon as I can come up with some supporting documents I have to send them in, I'll update on what happens with the account. Should be pretty darn quick like before Thanksgiving hopefully.

By the way, eBay account has 0 feedback but is at least a year old. I sold two items a couple months ago for $45 a piece and then suddenly 3 items for $350 each within a day. They had been listed a super long time, just dumb luck that they all sold in one day.

Did you leave feedback for the buyers?

Yeah, in my experience I am only getting return feedback about 25% of the time (across other accounts).

I use shipstation and it does feedback automatically when the label is printed.
