Paypal does not see the new number

I lost access to my old number half a year ago, I remembered that I had money for paypal - I indicated my new number there, but when making a transaction I asked to receive an SMS to the old number to which I do not have access - what to do? How to speed up the process of changing the number?

It takes months for the new number to show up as an option. There's nothing you can do to speed up the process. It's a security measure. If new numbers showed up instantly it would be too easy to take over someone's account.

Easily ? Yes, I almost died while doing a phone number that would be in my name. How can hackers get a number in my name? I think having my name in the telephone company database is already a defense!

1) Buy phone
2) Register it in your name

Regardless of why they put that security feature into place, that's the way it is and we have to work around it.

Was it a month now, Phaze? Or is it randomly so? I had to replace an old phone number a month ago and it went through fine, I did however get an email for confirmation though.

Other than that, you do have back up eBay Stealth accounts ready to go?

I'm also looking for this info. I google this question and find big amount of forums where guys for 80-120$ can add new mobile phone numbers to paypal and this phone will be visible in security measures within 24 hours. Price big but how they do this? via CNAM? via adding phone to whitepages? can anyone explain?

Yes, same problem occur with me call the paypal helpline and they will change immediately.

buy a prepaid number and update in your paypal settings and give a few days to update you should be fine then. if you still have a issue call customer support and tell them to manually update the phone. hope this helps

I have about 8 stealths going through this, the guy i bought the googles from emails all got shut down, accounts are fine, but i need a new # before i can add banks.

It's probably going to be very hard without access to the email accounts. Friendly reminder that it's almost never worth it in the long run to buy premade Gmail accounts from some random spammer/scammer.

Only thing you can do is add the #'s in your PP accounts, and wait for them to show up as an option on the security check page.

@Saijin - just saw your post. Never tried the method I've seen you mention, I've always just added the # in my PP profile. If you do it that way it takes several months for the # to show up as an option on the security check page. Unless things have changed in the year or so since I've had to do this last.
