Default PayPal Limited 180 days - Should I pay my ebay fees?

Hi,

I have $40k in a limited PayPal account. I was stupid to let it build up so high. I had had my PayPal account limited once before and I got it restored after faxing back in the info, so I assumed it would be the same the second time.

As it is a large amount for me, I would prefer to not be out an extra $2k of ebay fees. But I also don't want to reduce the chance of getting the $40k back after 180 days.

So should I pay the ebay fees or not?

What do you have to provide them with? Is it a problem providing what they are asking for?

My original ebay account was dead after some negative feedback.

I recently decided to sell on ebay again and made an account using a different name. When I was limited the first time on the new account, I sent them a modified bill for proof of name and address etc.

The second time I was limited (probably due to large sales on a new account), I sent through the same info and I got a tick for providing proof of name and address. The only thing that they were waiting on to restore my account was for the deliveries to be delivered. They were in transit to foreign countries.

When all of the deliveries were finally delivered, PayPal un-limited my account. When I tried to withdraw the money, I got the No Longer want to do Business email.

My ebay feedback was 100% and 100+.

I would avoid paying the fees for as long as possible. They already told you they dont want to do business with you anymore.

I would wait the 180 days and just withdraw.

$40,000. Lesson learned. Never let anyone hold your funds that do not have to follow banking laws. Since Paypal is not a bank, there is never a guarantee. In the US, it is called the FDIC.

If your eBay account is set up to pay fees automatically from your Paypal, you have no choice in the matter.

With such a large sum, I would consider a lawsuit.

The way I understand it is that after 180 days Ebay/Paypal automatically deduct your outstanding ebay Fees from your Paypal balance , even before you get chance to withdraw your precious money out .
PM me if you know different !

You could try calling paypal and asking about it too. Let us know what they say!

My ebay account was setup to be paid by credit card and not PayPal. I have since canceled the credit card.

So will ebay still deduct the fees from the PayPal account?

They can't take more then they are owed right? in my case I paid my fee's with my paypal balance because that how I had it set up. I know allot people wnat to say screw them when they limit yo for 180 days but I figure if they have been paid already they are less likely to try and take more.

As far as I know, no, they can't take more, but thing is... if they feel like it, I think they will.

OMG! 40K!!! Isn't it crazy? Some members here say that it's insane to leave even $1000 in a PayPal account...

Well, unfortunately, the majority of people out there don't know the real story of PP and eBay. So they trust the "company" more than the "seller".
