Amazon UK taking 3 to 4 days to verify bank account
So, I added my bank account to Amazon (UK) after about a week of selling. After adding the bank account, I was asked to upload a bank statement to show ownership and proof of the account which I did.
After uploading the bank statement, I noticed a message pop-up which said something along the lines of "it will take 3 to 4 days to verify the bank account that you have provided".
This is the first time that I've come across something like this. Is this new? Amazon UK (EU) only? Anyone else come across this?
I know that on Amazon USA they require all the info when opening the account so the bank info is confirmed right away.
The only reason I'm concerned about this is because I've been reading that banks in the UK will start rejecting payments (from this year onward) if the first payment from a sender come to the recipient bank account under a different name.
The following bit is from the Guardian "If they used a similar name to the account holder, they will be provided with the actual name to check. They can then update the details and try again, or contact the intended recipient to check the details. But if the customer enters the wrong name for the account holder, they will be told the details do not match and advised to contact the person or organisation they are trying to pay." |
