Just opened a old account, well really new account but they reactivated my old savings account from 10 years ago. And had a balance too! Score! But the question i have is is ally good for cashing out paypal still? I have been reading old posts about mismatched names not working. ?
The complete step-by-step guide to get back to selling today!
Ally is one of those many online banks that's crap for stealth. Just like Metabank, Chime, NetSpend, etc.
The general rule is if the bank only has an online presence and no actual branches you can visit in person, it's probably not good for mismatching names.
Ah, I didn't see you also made a thread specifically asking about Ally.
Agreed with the others - avoid Ally and all other "online banks." There are thousands of brick and mortar banks to choose from which have no problems with mismatched ACH's.

I recommend you read the ebay stealth guide btw.
There should be a section about banking in it as well.
Phaz, if the bank was added long time ago, it will likely continue working ok. What appears to have happened is PayPal grandfathered in some of those online banks before there were "problems" and they were blacklisted. I have a couple old stealths with NetSpend (Metabank) accounts on them and they still work fine. However if I were ever to remove one and try and re-add it (or a new one) it likely would be rejected.

It seems like most of the time when I read about problems with "online-only" banks here on the forum the bank allows the first couple of mismatched deposits, and then starts asking questions and sometimes holds funds until the source of the ACH is verified. With those kinds of banks being iffy about mismatched ACH deposits (can't blame them considering how many foreigners use those accounts for fraud) + Paypal being iffy about letting users even add them, it would probably be worth the 20 minute sit-down at WF of BoA.
I don't know anything abount E-Trade bank, but then again if they have physical branches, it MIGHT work.
I find that business accounts work better with mismatching ACH transfers because those types of accounts get less scrutiny for 3rd party transactions. They are also made for volume and you can easly explain why a vendor or service is deposting money in the account under different names.
I have personally found Wells Fargo and BofA to be solid and I have run six figures through them with mismatched names for years w/o any issues. Never had any phone calls or representatives who look over my accounts ever ask questions.
As I've said many times, it's best to stay away from online only banks.
Well i just got the deposits in for verification. Put them into paypal and was able to start the transfer of 250$+ to ally account. Fingers crossed.
But i figure if the paypal deposits came in ok the money will as well.
It was weird though. I got my two deposits .018 and .01 and then the next transaction was sending .019 back to paypal. Is that usually how it works? I thought you usually got to keep the deposits?
