Exclamation 9/06/2007: Did EB rules for seller account just change !!? Or maybe not?

Hi All..

I was just doing my daily account creation over a cup of coffee.. when I noticed something really strange today.... never happened before...

1. Sign up with gmail email account via AOL did not require CC verification! It went straight to step 3.. verify your email... and BAM! account created! this is strange because whenever registering with an public email address such as gmail, hotmail, etc, EB always asked for a CC. And just to confirm this is not a glitch in the system, I tried reg. another EB account to same effect, sure enough, same thing!

2. I hit Begin Selling on the new account created just to add the CC to file first, as I already had the info ready to roll... and guess what! IT SAYS IT REQUIRES BOTH CC and BANK ACCOUNT, instead of just one or the other!

Has anyone else noticed this? is this something new?

they usually ask for a cc while regestring but sometimes they dont. they usually ask for a bank account but if it does dont worry is aight...ebays sytem is confusing sometimes...its easy to add a bank account they only check if the ruting number is corect not the actuall banl acount number

the bank account part, is it OK to use an bank account that was associated with another PP account, but that has not seen the eBay system before?

also, is there any way to try to FOOL the EB system with a valid routing but ⊗⊗⊗⊗ bank acc?.. hmm.. i wander

yes ebay will only check the routing number so that must be valid... but the account number is never looked up unless they try to charge it for seller fees...so the accounty number can be phony but the routing number must be valid

Yes, also what I notice....when ebay ask u for CC right off the back to verify your account....its because the address u have is phony ...go to the phone book and list a real address and you shouldn't have a problem.

Just go back another day and try. It seems that everytime you go to do anything at EB it is different from the time before. and they come down on us for violating policy when they don't even know what their policy is.

Has anyone found a way around not needing a credit card for an account always? Since the credit card goes on once and that's it... without it, aren't you going to be playing CC Roulette every time you log in to try to sell under that account?

yea that's it right there. Either your address is phony or you used the same name. I've never entered a credit card while registering an ebay account. And i've never entered my bank account either...

You have eventually had to enter a CC or BAto seller though right? Or at least a PP account for EB to collect seller fees?

This is the big sticker isn't it for creating new accounts...coming up with the CC that EB asks for.

I see a lot of talk about needing bank/credit card numbers in order to just register on ebay, all I needed was a phone number? When I started to sell all they wanted was a valid paypal OR cc number. Odd.
