When Amazon asks for a copy of a photo id are they actually checking credit reports or public records?

I dont think they have access to DMV records / Government passport ID database.

But they do track the numbers on the ID. Passport and Drivers license #.

They don't check DMV, they don't have access to it.
You'll be fine.

Amazon cannot check any sort of government data base, however they more than likely keep track of all the passport nubers and relevant details and then crosscheck new passports details they receive against what they have on file.

they're most likely just using a 3rd party service to verify the quality of the information

I have a friend that has a suspended account and just recently opened a ghost account and submitted his DL as his ID verification and passed. He never uploaded his DL to Amazon before but his name and address match his suspended account... This makes me wonder? :confused:
