You must mean panic selling.... You may be right... But it will only be so big players can buy BTC at a discount and push out the weak...

I feel like that's whats happening... lots of *phake* news portraying BTC to be bad, so the big players can buy dirt cheap.

I suggest to HODL BTC (Hold On for Dear Life)... Unless you trade it with ETH. At least that way you wont totally lose out. The value of Fiat isn't going up any time soon. BTC & ETH value going up... you can almost bet you life on at this point...

BTC you HODL 100%. BTC is like Gold, ETH is more like Oil in the Crypto economy. I own some ETH I bought at $10 when Coinbase first listed it but there are lots of bugs in the coding the are disturbing to me.

I have a little bit of Monero and Dash and a few others in the top 25 mostly. But BTC is daddy. All these people out there trading Alts aren't hoarding them. Most of them are trying to get more BTC. Just get a cold storage device or a paper wallet if that is your thing and check back in 2-3 years when you have 4x the number of people chasing after a limited number of coins.

Also the Bitcoin Whales aren't selling, they spent the past 5 years going out and education people about it. The weak hands sold everything in 2014 to early 2016.

All the alt holders are the ones getting rich. The alt traders are the ones making 10% or more per trade and hopefully accumulating more or less the same if they just held a few alts. Plot all the alt growth in the last 6 months in the top 100 on coinmarketcap(don't do 1 year because there was a 10-50x spike for everything between February and June) versus bitcoin(remember bitcoin went up 5-10x during that time too), so you have to see if it was better to hold bitcoin or the top 100 alts. Also, the beauty of the human condition is very few people like to hold and wait a few weeks or months. Everyone likes to buy what's hot, so trading actually supports the rise of the alts. If no one traded, alts would still be worth what they were in the beginning of the year. Same thing goes for the miners that continually switch among the alts.

Blame the Wallet Providers for not adopting Segwit Wallets. Its a complete Joke. Things like Lightening Network are just about ready to go and Rootstock has been working hard. Its kinda comical that the Crypto space every day is like a year and people throw a pc of grass in the air and rush to whatever way the wind is blowing. Its almost sad how much is going to be lost in scam ICO's, scam Coins, pumps and fraudulent "lending platforms". I actually think LTC will lead BTC in % gains in the future because Charlie Lee will be able to prove just like with Segwit, anything with the Core team and the other important upgrades like Lightening and Rootstock can take this space on LTC before BTC.

Fortunes are going to be made and lost here in the coming years. Buckle Up.

Here in Australia, one of our exchanges stopped AUD transfers.

The stated reason was pressure from the Banks. Later in the day, they reopened exchanges for amounts up to AUD$1000.

Bunch of w*nkers. Current thought is the banks are worrying about money laundering.

Bunch of the above.

Somehow I dont see that happening.
Looks like all the altcoins are gaining a bit in the last 2-3 hours.
Bitcoin again above $14k.

This pullback was very healthy for bitcoin, it now sets the base figure at around $14k/$15k.

The only way is up I'd say. Might be another dip, but I don't see it lasting too long.

I wouldn't be so quick to say that. In bitcoins entire history it has NEVER corrected (Pulled Back) more that 30% within any given year this pull back bottomed out yesterday (12/22) at nearly 50% from its high of nearly 20,000.

This was an Epic pull back. Now combine that with the start of trading of Bitcoin Cash and the founder of Litecoin selling all of his litecoin could potentially add up to a fundamental shift in the cryptocurrency markets AWAY from bit coin and potentially towards other cryptocurrencies.

Bitcoin can very easily be looking for a new bottom or base figure as you put it. My sentiments at this time are Caution and to keep an eye on large block trades of bitcoin to see if a "sense" of where the "big" or "smart" money is going at this point.

Yes it might have been an epic pullback but it followed on the heels of a far more epic climb from $6k in mid November to $20k in Mid December.
In other words - Im not worried about it. Then again Im a long term type of investor looking at 2-3 years from now.

Dont loose faith in Bitcoin now, its the same Bitcoin as it was last month when it went to 20k. Look at the people working on Bitcoin compared to the people working on Bitcoin Cash... For one everything surrounding Bitcoin Cash was creep. They left the miner boost bug in the code, The main people behind and probably funding the project are huge mining groups in China. The larger blocks are only a temp fix. Bitcoin Cash obviously has a shady deal going with Coinbase. Coinbase refused to add segwit2x which is when Bitcoin Cash tried to do the flippening the 1st time. Then Coinbase held all the Bcash so it couldnt flood the market, then when they finely did release it look what they did. You would have to be blind not to see all the shady sh1t going on...

Bitcoin has no big news right now... They are working on stuff, lightning network and cross chain atomic swaps. Layering the network. Bitcoin is too big for the Dev's to be playing around with updates they dont know for-sure will work or not.

Bitcoin isn't going anywhere. Roger Ver bcash spokesman has most of his money in bitcoin. now with high transaction fees it wasnt working out for him to spend it so he had to come up with something else and a new plan.

If your only looking to make quick trades then do your thing. But I'm keep the majority of my portfolio in BTC.

Have to ask how much of this pull back was orchestrated by the unholy Trinity with their tweets of what they were selling and buying?

Following slokor’s hopes. Long term and buying when I can.

Where are you getting your facts from?

It has dropped more than 30% on countless occasions.

One example - 2013, where it went from $233 to $67 overnight! That’s a 71% drop.

As of recent, mid-2017, we saw a 39% correction.

None the less, the point is, when it rises, it breaks records, again, and again, and again. #HODL
