Goods got seized by Customs
 

After losing my job, I started my cell phone repair store a year ago, recently, I switched to Vendors in China to buy parts, instead of buying from local. Three weeks ago, I bought some LCDs and backglass of iPhone 8, 8 plus and about 15 lighting cables and a machine to remove backglass. This vendors sent two packages, one is a machine, another is LCDs and parts as mention above. After a week, I got my machine from DHL, but don't get second package(parts package) yet. I have tracked my package and it seems to be still at custom. I don't think there are any logos on iphone LCDs, but I believe there will be Apple logos on backglasses and I don't know if any Apple logo on cables. What can I do If my package is seized? Will I get my money back from Vendor if my package is seized(I paid wire transfer)? Is it a criminal? What I'm going to do if custom officers stop by my store and asks me to sign something? Will I need to hire a lawyer?(I don't have much money to pay lawyer fee)and this job is temporary in time of searching for another job. Total value included machine is $1250, ans shipping address is a store I share with another guy.

Highly doubt you will get your money back

Depending on the size of the packages and how many branded items, they may have seized them if they havent moved by a certain time.

You may also expect a letter from customs in the mail telling you your next steps.

You are risking your business and partnership by using foo foo items.

Yes, this is criminal.

Just have to wait and see what happens next.

Nobody is gonna close your business down for doing this. There is a guy on YouTube called Rossman who also does similar work to yours. He got his shipment of iPhone displays seized and made a YouTube video about it... nothing happened.

When you import Apple parts, you should make sure that no Apple logo or the word "Apple" are printed anywhere on these parts. Importing generic items is totally fine.

Dito walkingupwards your business will not be closed however you have lost your lcd’s customs will not be releasing these and as you paid by wire transfer you’ll find it difficult to get your funds back but you can contact your supplier and they may be willing to partially refund you so no harm in asking.

Even if no logo, if design is too similar it can be confiscated

Those back glasses with the logos might cause you some issues with customs...

I would worry more about the goods. You should talk to your supplier about this and see if they could help you with a replacement if it's totally seized.

What can I do If my package is seized?
If your package is seized you can try to fight it or choose do nothing.
If it bears the apple logo and it is not a refurb dont bother.

If it was not alot of money dont bother anyway will probably worth more then your time.

Will I get my money back from Vendor if my package is seized?
We cant tell you that. If it was direct deal only vendor can tell you. If you bought through dhgate/alibaba/aliexpress ect you probably have some protection and can get a refund/reship.

If they are foo foo maybe but nothing will come from it.

What I'm going to do if custom officers stop by my store and asks me to sign something?
They wont. If they get seized you will get a letter saying we got your stuff blah blah. Give you a few options fight it/sign letter approving destruction/do nothing and in 30 days they will destroy anyway.
If you do get a letter fight it or just ignore it and do nothing and ask the vendor to reship the merch/refund. (preferably to a different address/name)

Hello, I use to sell knock off juicy couture purse from China around 80 purses a month..it's a roll of the dice when a package gets seizure , but when it does you have one option , the mail man will bring you the package few days later (you won't know when ) if your not there package goes back but if you are there you get charged USA taxes on each item as if they where real .if you refuse the package goes back..

So example, the purse cost me $27 ...USA reatil was $217 tax =$17 ...5 purse in one box that's $85 extra ...

Now iPhone tax would be more around $75ish per phone ..idk how many in a box but if you lose on it don't expect. I always calculated tax cost ahead of time just in case . Out of 20 boxes sent each month 2 to 3 got seizure ..some company's offer seizure insurance . Well hope that helped good luck
