Do you work besides your ebAy job?

I wish i could go back being a kid again. Never realized how good it felt to have nothing to worry about or have no responsibilities.

Right now I am a full time student at my local community college. This takes up a huge chunk of time. All of the research that i do on this forum + other places to learn more about pp/eb*y and to stay up to date with new things to sell and finding good niches has me on the computer pretty much all day. And now.... my mom got me a job at PNC bank. I never had a job before so i know this will be a good opportunity to learn something new and become familiar with the "working world" and its a plus to have this on my resume. But... this means i will have no social life. I feel my days will be consisted of school,homework,job,eb*y,research, eat, sleep.

I really need some words of encouragement. I know you guys are really busy also, how do you do it? Do you guys have jobs other than eb*y?

I really want to deny the job at PNC but i feel like that will be a huge mistake. Now before you say anything just know that i am 19 im not some old guy that comes home after work and has nothing to do

There is nothing wrong with having a full time job. In this economy you never should turn away a decent job if it presents itself to you.

As you know at any moment you can lose a Amazon/Ebay account. Of course you should have multiple accounts so you can keep going if that happens. But you never know if it could come crashing down and leave you stuck with no money for 30-60 days etc.. I would love to quit my job as I make way more on EBay and Amazon than the 40+ hrs I spend at work. But I have 401k, great health insurance and other benefits. I know you are only 19 but you will learn those are important things in life.

That is true. I just feel like my life will be nothing but school and work. Idk maybe it will be good for me. I do have a little too many lazy days since i don't work.

I spent about a decade working fulltime jobs that didn't pay sh@t going paycheck to paycheck, complete waste of time. Thanks to this forum now I have all the time in the world and yes it is like being a kid again and no I don't ever plan on sitting in a chair under a lamp with a book just because I reached a certain age lol..

jbluntz....you hit the nail on the head on this one, my thoughts exactly as well in regards to bouncing from one paycheck to the next, I could not have put it better.

LoL, had to edit my post. What's wrong with not having a social life? I don't talk to anyone, and love being an introvert. You'll stay out of trouble that way.

I'm also a student, so no I do not have time for a job. The eBay biz is generating enough income for me, but I am planning to get another job on top of it later down the road until I can earn enough from online sales

Reading between the lines...

Take the job. The fact that your Mom set it up for you means she does not think you are exactly on the right track. Doing so, and doing a good job, will put her mind at ease.

I have to say that I actually ENJOYED most of the jobs I've had over the years. I learned a lot and met many interesting people from all walks of life from CEO's of Fortune 500 companies to ex-convicts.

You're not getting MARRIED, it is not a lifetime committment. What have you got to lose by trying it? You MIGHT like it and even meet your future wife there, who knows?

I was 19 and recently turned 20 and am also a uni student. I had only been eBaying for about half a year when i took up my current job at a big superannuation (401K in america) company. 8 months have passed and I have just gotten back into the online biz a few weeks ago with stealth.

This is also my first job and I have to say it is a great job and I've learnt a lot of new things about both life and myself. I'm glad to have taken up this job as now I have a pretty decent-looking resume and have gained great confidence for future job interviews. I think the most important thing about taking this job for you is as cardfelon said, you will have something to fall onto if eBay fails you. Your time available for eBay will be reduced but it's not impossible to keep it up.

As for my social life, it's died down a lot but I still have my girlfriend to keep me busy.

You should give it a try even if eBay is where the big bucks are at.

no reason to have another job. I cannot pay my bills working 9-5. Car payment alone is more than 2 weeks work at a 9-5.

Amazon pays all the bills with tons of spare change.

Work full time here and sat. shift to keep skillz up - I consult on the side and dabble with this Net biz (less so now since I moved to different city but soon I intend to up my activity).

Your mom got you this job as well as it`s at a BANK...lot of opportunities to rise there and meet great folx. Worst comes worst, you do it few months and feel it out.

On a more serious note, I would suggest trying the bank job for say 2 years.

It's worthwhile in terms of experience. It's also a help to have a salary coming in monthly rather than having to put up with lower profits because of reduced sales.

It's a do it suggestion rather than regret not doing it.

I work full time during the day managing an IT support centre for a national company, I'm studying part time for an IT related degree which I'm in my final year which takes up most of my evenings/weekends. I also work as a freeelance website designer/developer when I can get the work and to top it all I'm a mum.

I do all that as well as my ebay activities (self funded degree courses are not cheap and I need as much money as I can get)

Funny thing is that if I set some time aside to chill etc I feel guilty that I'm not doing anything

I would definitely take the bank job, you never know who you will meet and it will look great in the resume. I think success usually comes with some sort of sacrifice.
