Any Shopify user here?
 

I'm currently running my own website on wordpress but interested in building a new shop on shopify because of their plugins. Does any one have success with this platform? Anyone can share?

Honestly I don't understand why people would use shopify. It's not anything like amazon or ebay yet, but maybe one day they decide to kick you for whatever reason and you are back to zero. Using shopify makes you depend on shopify and doesn't bring you any new customers. Why not get a domain and some webspace and then use magento, oscommerce or zen cart. These have lots of cool mods and templates and it is YOURS. I myself use zen cart for more than 10 years and it's awesome.

I would personally be using Facebook & Shopify and sticking some money into Facebook adverts.

If you have to advertise for your shopify shop, just like you would have to advertise for any other shopping solution with your own domain, I would most certainly not use any ads on shopify. Get a webhost and domain, install a shopping cart there and advertise your domain. The domain is yours, the subdomain with shopify is theirs. Also it would make me feel uneasy to know that all my customer data is saved in a shopify database and not in a database on my own server. Can anybody explain the pros of using shopify instead of starting your own online shop with magento or zen cart?

I find shopify very user friendly and great for someone who doesn't know anything about making a website. I have a website both on e-commerce and shopify now.

i find the same. I use shopify. I set my website up inside of 4 hours and been making money since. While its constrictive and a bit costly, its very easy and fast to set up and make money quick.

I have a drop shipping shopify store that I was intrigued in setting up. I have a Facebook and instagram account connected to it. I am paying someone on Fiverr to run the social media account in hopes that it generates $ with very minimal amount of effort.

So far I am ~$500 down with very little sales. I am treating this as a learning experience with social media and advertising and SEO. Hopefully it starts to generate more sales soon.

Since talking about shopify, any of you tried selling your services to them? Like being dropshippers and etc?
