Tempted to throw down a small speculative investment on some of these "POT" stocks. I am not a fan of Marijuana. However, out here in my part of CA. It is ridiculous how many hydroponics stores here. Seems like every other block. Have me intrigued. I never hear drug dealers crying broke.

Even though I voted against Legalizing Marjuana here in CA in like 2008 or something like that and the stated stuck it down. There are so many Hydroponic stores here in Northern CA. It is literally a joke. Few hours up the road you in Mendocino/Humbolt County. Apparently some of the best Marijuana in out there. At this point I am looking around. If this is the business to be in I am looking into investing in it.

The debate about Marijuana gateway drug etc is still out there. I will punt on that. But if you are in it for the money I do believe this could be an industry trying to find a footing and the early investors if they invest right could come out ahead.

Regarding binary options, BE VERY CAREFUL! If you understand the market, you MIGHT be able to profit, but it is also a very good way to lose money QUICKLY. That is true of any system that involves trying to time the market. I have had GREAT SUCCESS with stocks, but not as short term investments.

I remember one of my best ones was purchasing the company that makes Aunt Jemima products. Their stock was WAY DOWN because of some internal issues that were affecting profits and the p/e on the stock was like 8 or so. I figured they would work it out and also that their brand names were not going to go away - who hasn't had Aunt Jemima pancakes, or pancake syrup, or waffles, or biscuits, or whatever? I doubled my money in just under a year. I have a few examples like that. But trying to figure out where a stock is going to be an hour from how will drive you INSANE and cost you money - unless you really, REALLY, REALLY know what you are doing. And most people don't.

As to profiting from Marijuana...

Why not? Half the people in American prisons are there for drug crimes, and the vast majority of them are minor and related to marijuana. That is HUGELY expensive and cannot be sustained. So, I don't see the federal government (or politicians) pushing a "get tough on pot" policy. Marijuana is not nearly as harmful as alcohol and the hysteria surrounding it is giving way to actual science. So, I think the legalization trend will continue. Most doctors will tell you that there ARE legitimate medical uses for it and a couple of states have even legalized it for recreational use. You can still get into a lot of trouble for growing it in states where it is illegal, so I am not recommending that. But as an investment, it has some nice long term potential. The trick will be to pick the companies that will still be around in ten years. Even where there is no fraud and the best of intentions, investments will go sour - especially at this early stage. But it is worth looking into.

The point is. The main stock I am investing in is not in the sale of actual Marijuana. They sell the supplies to grow your own. Not saying this is the Gold Rush. But people who would have invested in a Company like Levis who made a fortune selling clothes to miners rather than the more risky business of mining Gold.

John D. Rockefeller also began the same way. He saw Oil Exploration as risky and volatile. Saw refining as a more stable business.

Not trying to convince anyone to invest in anything. But as much as I am anti Marjuana on a personal level. In the states I see the laws getting more and more relaxed for a good portion of the Country.

Mining, Energy, Transportation - fun sectors but always the downturn risk...stocks can blow up or go down heavily...still worth the action though

Highly cyclical I agree. Lol, RSOT Canada is actually my favorite country to invest in. Mining stocks like Gold Corp, Barrick Gold, Fertilizer like PotAsh. I even own Telus Telcom. Lol. Just too bad that the Canadian government changed the laws on the old Royalty "Oil" Trusts. Those where some big dividends back in the day.

potash corp was once very lucrative to buy
now because of the russian cartel issue the stock has crashed quiet a bit

barrick gold has rebounded a bit, lets see if its persists.
not an investment pitch but i think canadian gas stocks are undervalued.will rise in coming months, encana and all

All the fertilizer stocks have been beat up. That is part of the reason I finally got into Potash. Had been sitting on the sideline on this one for quite some time. I am with ROST on this one. These type of stocks seem to be one of those if you are willing to buy and have a decent sense of when to get in and get out. Personally I prefer to buy stuff when it has been beaten up a little bit. Potash has a ok dividend as well so at least you get something for holding onto it.

Some of these tech companies trading at 100x times earning and have never paid out a penny to shareholders are what I stay away from. Might be old school but I like the non sexy assets. Oil, Gas, Mining, Heavy Machinery. Not really into tech or consumer staples.

yes,it will rise hopefully when the outlook for fertiliser improves, but potash corp has the largest exposure to potash based fertilisers instead of urea or DAP.
so its exposure to the breakup of the potash cartel was even larger
and then its largest customers china and india took advantage and he company that cut out of the cartel, they made cheaper supply deals.the price they negotiated was like 35% lesser .lets see how it goes

do you watch for bombardier and aerospace stocks they might go well

PHOT has is now up 50% since I purchased it. Now sure if it is a pump and dump or what is going on. Going to ride it out probably for quite a few years. I am more interested in the companies like I said before that supply the equipment to grow than dispensaries etc.

Obviously this is speculative. But I missed out on Bitcoin when I knew about it really early on. I do not plan on missing out this. Even if I morally disagree with it. Not saying PHOT is a sure deal. But legal marijuana industry is quite interesting. Do your due diligence and make sure you can handle the risk.

Money to be made there.

I am still enjoying holding shares in a medical tech company.

Always a good return for me.
